I appreciate room availability during my early check-in (approx. 10:30 a.m.); it helped me get settled and relax for a bit after my train ride. I called the front desk for assistance regarding the TV remote control and air conditioning unit and maintenance promptly came and fixed them. After my daytime escapades, it was nice to be able to come to my room and relax. The bed was very comfortable and I slept soundly. I've been going to The Sofia Hotel during various time in the past decade or so, and look forward to returning again soon. It's prime location in downtown San Diego, historic building designation, intimate coziness and comfort, appeal to me the most.

"Old style hotel"

The "suite" was just o.k. The room was in need of some updating. The closet was 18" wide and not long enough to hang a dress or a pair of slacks. There is no restaurant on premises, which can be ok, but there wasn't even a place to buy some essentials or snacks.

"Great Hotel and a fantastic location"

Great hotel and location. Very easy to get to many locations, four or five blocks from the Sante Fe train station. Room we had (corner king suite) was recently renovated and was very comfortable, clean and quiet. Price we paid was very fair for downtown! A pick up Starbucks location is right off of the lobby and soon to have a restaurant, but an SD restaurants are plentiful.

"An OK hotel option if you need to stay downtown"

The location and parking were terrible. There's supposedly a discount for the parking but I was not informed when I asked the front desk. The room was nice and appeared clean. Although, a proper door on the bathroom would have been good. If you have a car, I'd recommend staying somewhere with actual parking as it's over $40 per 10 hours.
