The Read House is absolutely one of the best hotels there is. We loved our room and the service. However, the greatest part of our stay was getting to tour the famed room 311. Kerby in the Derby was an absolute delight. We highly recommend that you tour with him if at all possible. He is so animated that you hang on every word. He is definitely a gem to be cherished. Photos are of both our room and room 311. On another note, I have lived in Chattanooga for my entire 67 years. Never has there been railroad cars on this hotel property. To Phil W, with his negative review: Sir, please get your facts right before posting such a negative review. To the other readers, the Read House has never even offered stays in railroad cars. He is thinking of another Chattanooga iconic hotel, not the Read House. Shame on you for falsely accusing the Read House.

I loved the Read House. I stayed in a standard king. My friend had the King suite. Both were lovely and comfortable. Bar was fun. All staff was friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. Great restaurant suggestions for all meals. We loved the beauty and history. The hotel felt so fresh. Our event was at the convention center. Very short and easy walk. Easy walk to many fun attractions. I love the area near the Westin.
