Situated in the historic L.Mendel Rivers Federal Building (1964–65), The Dewberry Charleston masterfully blends mid-century architecture with a modern Southern spirit.

Owner John K. Dewberry and design firm Workstead collaborated to transform the landmark into richly appointed rooms and suites, each featuring floor-to-ceiling windows, bespoke furnishings, Vermont-marble bathrooms, and high-end linens from Ireland.

Guests are invited to unwind in The Living Room’s elegant brass bar, sip expertly crafted cocktails at the rooftop Citrus Club overlooking the bustling Marion Square, or recharge with Lowcountry-inspired treatments in the tranquil cypress-clad spa. Cultural immersion awaits just beyond the doors, with Museum Mile, King Street’s boutiques and galleries, and attractions like the Charleston Museum and the South Carolina Aquarium all within walking distance.

Another great stay at The Dewberry. Even in a smaller room, the quality and comfort were just as exceptional as always. The Living Room remains a standout—the staff, the food, and the updated menu were fantastic. Looking forward to our next stay at Charleston’s best property.

The hotel was great. Great staff, service and great location. Rooms were a little small but fine for two people. The hotel was very clean, and you did not notice noise from the street. The bars provided a great atmosphere. Loved the location because it was within walking distance to restaurants and activities.

My parents and I absolutely loved our stay! Everyone was so helpful and kind, especially with my accessibility needs. The rooms were perfect! There was plenty of room in the accessible shower. The service was outstanding and we will certainly be back. The Volvo car program is so great too! We utilized it a lot! The Citrus Club is a must!

The Dewberry was amazing, it had all the amenities needed. All of the staff members were friendly, helpful and went above and beyond to make your stay enjoyable. I highly recommend staying here for a nice and relaxing couples weekend.
