"Disappointing and dull"

Dull depressing decor, no main dining room, concierge with no knowledge, run by children. The Citrus lounge was a disappointment. Waitress never came for a drink as she was busy talking to her colleague. The front staff gave me no information about the hotel. I discovered this later as another guest received a pamphlet and a complete run down. Lots of loud business people meeting in the living room on zoom calls and at tables. I felt like I was at a bad work conference. Very dull decor. Concierge had no or incorrect knowledge and refused to book a boat ride. I have never had this kind of a hotel experience. It absolutely should not be in the Amex group of fine hotels . Ruined my trip. I won’t be returning to Charleston.

"Beautifully Designed & Great Service"

Beautiful hotel with a central location to historic Charleston. The facade of the hotel is deceiving and very minimalist, but inside the hotel is beautifully designed. We stayed in a one bedroom suite and had ample room with a small living room area and separate bedroom area. Personally, for two people - it’s not much more room than a regular deluxe room. The service was fantastic and the rooftop is stunning. The valet provides complimentary local car service. The only miss is that the gym is literally the size of a hotel room with limited equipment and space. No other facilities like a pool, etc - which would be nice, given the hot summers in Charleston. However, I still think this hotel is impeccable and would highly recommend it.

The Dewberry offers a gorgeous rooftop event space for those looking for an elevated client experience! We absolutely loved the 360 views of Charleston as well as the incredible sunset we were able to capture during our Elite VIP Happy Hour event in April of 2025.

"Overpriced for what we experienced"

Don't get the room across from the workout facility as it is next to the wedding get ready and after party room. The staff won't tell you that at check-in so beware especially given the cost of the rooms. Nice location and nice staff just had a bad experience.

In the heart of downtown lies the Dewberry. Perfectly branded, uniquely stated, modern and traditional luxury. It was the perfect escape from the city and felt transported to another world. Amazing breakfast, incredible ambiance and people watching, complementary bikes for riding, and the best rooftop bar in all of Charleston. Definitely recommend!
