The Benson is amazing from start to end! Our first impression started with Tremaine, who was friendly and super helpful. Walked into the beautiful, stunning lobby! Clarissa assisted us with checking in and she was equally friendly and helpful. She made us feel at home and treated us like we were friends, and we are now! The common areas are beautiful and super clean, the bedding very comfortable, bathroom modern and well maintained. The Benson arranged food/meals for our group and everything was great! We appreciated all the food options including alternative milk and juices! All the food/hotel staff we interacted with were kind and very helpful! The location is great, many places with walking distance. We will recommend this hotel to all! Gooo Benson!

(I'll review the Palm Court restaurant separately). The hotel is historically nice. Appreciated the details in the decor. It seems that although old attention has been taken to the cleanliness. Housekeeping has the room clean (except blood stains on the sheets) but when asked for additional items (towels, etc...) too much time lapsed before the items arrived. Very small bathrooms.

I wish hotels understood that I am there to SLEEP. I need quiet, dark, and a firm mattress on the bed. Although I asked for a quiet room, the one I was given at the Benson had single-pane windows with industrial blowers of some kind outside running all night. Add to that the loud AC and even earplugs didn’t help much. The bed was really squishy and unsupportive, just awful for my back. So, while the staff were AWESOME, the historical staircase is fascinating, and the location is ideal, I would not recommend the Benson for a good night’s sleep based on my experience.

Having a wonderful stay! The room is so spacious, the bed so very comfortable and the bathroom is deluxe. I've had a couple of interactions with hotel staff, mostly Clarissa on the front desk. She has helped me in every situation and is a real credit to the hotel. Our group's breakfasts have been delightful. All in all, a very good place to stay which I recommend.

Overall our experience at The Benson was wonderful! The room was very clean, the bed was more than comfy, the staff including Mark, Barnavi, Matt and Det were outstanding host! Close to food trucks, coffee, Powells book store and just blocks from the riverfront. Highly recommend staying here on your next visit to Portland!
