Everyone at the hotel was awesome from the front desk to the dining room and a special big thank you to your accountant, Parker for locating my dining receipt which I had lost during breakfast. Great job y'all! : )

We came to Portland for a celebration of life . I used to live in Portland but had never stayed at The Benson. I have to say I was pleasantly surprised at the fabulous customer service of all involved, desk clerks , valet, even wait staff in small restaurant in lobby. The best part of this trip was John, waiter in the restaurant, he always greeted us with a smile and a handshake , remembering what food we liked and what beverages we enjoyed. He took the time to ask us about ourselves without being too invasive. Had great advice and shows great loyalty to the hotel being there 46 years and counting. Thanks to him this trip although sad was a blessing by meeting someone as kind as he was.

It can be risky choosing a hotel in a city you don't know at all, basing your decision solely on websites and customer reviews. I'm so glad I chose The Benson! It offered everything I want in a hotel at top-shelf quality. My room (Single King bed, upper floor requested) was spacious, absolutely clean and fully accommodated. The large TV, the comfortable sitting area by the window and the very large counter that can easily function as a desk were all plusses. The central air conditioning system meant I was truly comfortable for once (neither hot nor frozen, as is generally the case, even at many high-end hotels) and made virtually no noise, which made sleeping a pleasure. Best of all was the bed itself, which was SO comfortable. I usually don't sleep very well on vacation, but I totally did at The Benson. The hotel itself is charm all the way, with the most beautiful lobby and a unique mezzanine level with tables and chairs just up the stunning oak staircase. This was a great place to relax quietly, eat breakfast, and even do some work on a laptop, which I had to do. I saw a family playing cards up there a few times, and they also seemed happy to have this space that's as elegant as the lobby, but just north, where it's a little quieter and more private. The biggest reason to stay at The Benson, however, is undoubtedly the staff. Everyone--and I do mean EVERYONE--at the front desk is so ready to accommodate and assist in any way. There's no separate Concierge, because there doesn't need to be one; the entire front staff is not only warm and personable, but they know their city, and are ready to answer your questions. Every encounter I had with the main staff left me more and more impressed at how lovely and helpful they all were. I would be remiss if I didn't add a special shout-out to the parking valets. I chose the "park and stay" package, which allowed me to use valet parking throughout my seven-day visit--and use it, I certainly did! I was all over Portland and the surrounding areas in my rental car, and the valets made it so easy to get in and out each time. Upon arrival at The Benson, I received a link to an online system that allowed me to easily notify the valets whenever I needed my car, and these guys absolutely HUSTLED to get my vehicle to the front of the hotel in a flash. Every one of them was terrific, but I'd like to recognize Evan, who probably helped me with my car more times than anyone, possibly more times than any guest in the history of The Benson ;-). This good-natured young man is the perfect representative for the Benson brand: always helpful, always courteous, always right on the money. For me, that's The Benson in a nutshell. I wish there were a Benson in every city.

I could probably write a book about all the amazing things about this hotel but I’ll give the most important. The customer service is outstanding and genuine. Always more than enough staff so you are never waiting for service. The restaurant staff and bartenders are efficient and never disappoint. The food is amazing and waiter always has me smiling and laughing. It’s such a fun environment. As for the rooms my favorite is the fury blankets and pillows. That has to be my favorite part about this hotel it makes me feel at home. The elegant, historic beauty of this is beyond words. I stay here once or twice a month for the last 9 months and I have never had one complaint and I refuse to stay anywhere else when I am in Portland for work. I recommend anyone going to Portland to stay here.

A beautiful historic hotel in the Pearl District. We stayed there with a large group attending a wedding and had an enjoyable time. We had a private breakfast event in the ballroom which was a gorgeous place. The hotel provided coffee in the lobby in the morning and water in the evening. There were even complimentary water bottles in the room. The rooms are clean and the bed was comfortable. The walk to Powell's Books was maybe 5 minutes away. There were restaurants within walking distance as well. Portland isn't my favorite city to visit for various reasons but we didn't have any problems.
