"Depends on what you're looking for"

We visited Philadelphia with a large group for an event in town. Many stayed at various places. We had two rooms for our stay. My family of 4 had one room and my in-laws in another. My sister-in-law decided the day before to cancel and stay across the street. The most important thing to mention is that this is a very small/old hotel. The Lobby is small but clean and the people working are over the top friendly. Rooms- Our room was on the front of the building where you see the windows. The windows are covered on the inside by heavy curtains, but the windows are so dirty on the outside that you can't see out. There is what looks like a window air unit in the window that is for heat and cool. There are also two old heater plates on the wall that are plugged in. It was cool in there, but not cold. We tried everything to heat it up a little but didn't get anything to work. I asked at the desk and they said the window unit is how we would heat the room. We tried everything to no avail. Not a huge deal as it wasn't freezing. Beds were comfortable and linens soft and clean. The main overhead light turned off many of the wall plugs so charging things was tricky. The only mirror in the room was in the bathroom so it was difficult to have someone shower and someone get ready. When we got back in the evenings, we wanted to watch a movie with our Netflix Acct. The TV's are not Smart TV's so we couldn't. The TV connection is also pretty poor so the reception is pretty fuzzy. Just local channels. There was a min refrigerator and microwave. Building - I think the second floor of this building must have been apartments or something as the hallways are very narrow and choppy. There is a narrow staircase that goes up and an elevator that has a very narrow opening, but opens to a little larger space. They just did the best they could with an old building. Not a big deal. The first floor hallway looks pretty normal. The ceilings feel higher and the hallway not as narrow. There is a nice ice machine on first floor near the front. The staircase was pretty dirty, but did get vacuumed during our stay. Breakfast - Very small (but nice) space, so simple foods. Yogurt (off brand), cereal, make your own waffles, orange juice, coffee, and limited fruit. (apples and cuties, but not the freshest) I think that this has new ownership, and they are trying to improve some things. Everyone was very kind and an employee, A'Nazarey asked if we saw things that needed improved. Thoughts - We came to town two nights before originally planned so stayed a street over to the east. It was a cool street. No frills, No front desk or food, but I enjoyed the stay there. We stayed her for 4 nights and if I had to do over, I would stay in our original spot (even a little cheaper because no breakfast), or my first pick is where my sister-in-law stayed. It was the same price and they had full breakfast with name brand food. Bacon, eggs, french toast, waffles, sausage, oatmeal, etc. There lobby was very nice, rooms were normal. The rooms at Quality Inn are doable for sure. There are no bugs or deliberate dirtiness. I guess it just depends on price at the time and what you are looking for. I do want to stress that I think Quality Inn is trying to improve and EVERYONE was so kind. There is not a lot that can be done for an old building. Have fun in Philly!
