Oceanfront Viking Motel in Myrtle Beach, SC

Last minute decision after leaving a 250 dollar a night resort a mile from this hotel. I paid 82 dollars taxes and everything included. I had booked the resort for my 17 year old daughter’s birthday and took 6 family members including my 7 year old and 4 month old grandson. We needed safety, space and cleanliness. Second was amenities and fun! The Viking was like I said a mile maybe less so the location far as safety and distance to attractions was bout the same. No parking deck but lot across the street. It’s oceanfront and very close it’s beautiful. The rooms themselves are not oceanfront because it’s a two story smaller building and is almost hard to notice even over the sand dunes. The pool was nice size with a small baby pool. All older brick but deep end was refreshing! Now the room we got had 3 queen beds and a table with three chairs and a sitting chair in the corner. The place was not cleaned as well as I would like to live but for a place for us to lay down at the end of the day it surfaced. The property itself was my biggest issue. The amount of cigarette butts and random trash throughout the property was ridiculous. Nobody obviously cares about the appearance and it shows and lets the guests see the same thing so it just continues. A empty piece of luggage was about 6 feet from our room and was apparently a part of the design? They have limited parking in front of the rooms maybe 12 spots the rest are across the road in a public lot I believe lots of traffic there for sure. The absolute most dissatisfying thing about the entire place was the amount of ice cream trucks that continually drove thru and parked next to pool for about 20 minutes each time and played awful ridiculously loud, piss you off immediately music. It was all day loooonnnngggg. And began at 10am I believe maybe earlier and I was just that tired! Either way i can’t understand I was the only one bothered by it because im sure it was above noise ordinance for the city regulations and should definitely be fined and shut down permanently if can’t sale a ice cream without the ruckus!! There is a 100 CASH deposit for the adult with the over 21 identification. It’s returned at check out after making sure the furniture is still there and the scratchy towels weren’t removed! The staff was nice and the rest of the guests as well. For the price and location I would definitely stay here again and recommend to anyone. I always check for bedbugs and a few other deal breaking issues before my family lays down anywhere and I saw no issues. I will say the floors are laminate so the sand and everything else builds up very quickly and converts to the beds faster than you know it so beware the sand in the bed sucks for everyone. Only was allowed one parking pass but I don’t believe anyone is checking those and could probably hang a piece of paper up to improvise for sure. They did say you were welcome to use their sister properties indoor pool and other facilities but we didn’t leave so we can’t comment. For mid summer location and off season prices we will definitely return again!

When they said you get a ocean view, you do not. You see a tiny sliver of the ocean that is it. My biggest complaint is people were doing drugs on the property by the rooms and on the joint balcony that’s open to everybody. I felt very unsafe with my daughter . They say it’s non-smoking yet. I took pictures of cigarettes all over the place by peoples rooms on the outside on every level.

Nasty and roach infested. Staff was not great. Take my advice and stay away. There are so many other nicer places to stay. We traveled over 800 miles to come for vacation. We had a few bath sheets we brought with us for the beach and I noticed they were missing. I asked the front desk and they said they would speak to house keeping. I heard nothing. The next day I was coming out of my room and the housekeepers had their supply closet open so I peeked in and there was our towels. I complained again and was told that they must have picked them up thinking they were theirs to be laundered. Okay well our huge towels look nothing like the dinky stained white ones they had. Nasty nasty place

Mickalia at the front was amazing!5 of us top floor room 515,washer/dryer beside us,paid $100 deposit n got bck after rm inspection upon leaving, It is a comfortable affordable place,below us was loud but wasn't a bother.Right on beach n walkin dist to wat we needed.will stay again it had all we needed.Not fancy but livable.Got wat we needed by calling front desk,no bother,food delivered from close places,view amazing.Kids loved the pool.will go back! If u want affordable place to stay on the beach not a lot of people but can't afford a ton of money then stay here.only thing not liked, TV in entrance room with 1 bed but air cond in 2nd room with 2 beds.We bought 2 fans and it kept us comfortable other than the it had all we needed n water stayed HOT which is a plus! Stove,fridge,microwave, dishes,pans,silverware, soap,shampoo all u need with walmart 2 blocks behind u.
