This is my second Moxy properties so I already know what to expect. Small but cozy room with limited amenities. I stayed here for about 3-nights but I enjoyed my stay. 1. Location: Located in Gaslamp area, where it's famous for great dining or places to hang out in San Diego. Not too far from the waterfront area also. Location-wise is decent, safe, and not difficult to find. Although if you travel with public transit, then it's difficult, but that is just San Diego in general where the city does not have good public transportation. 2. Lobby/Reception: Technically it's a bar/lounge area. It's very hip, designed to be communal, welcoming, yet not intimidating. Staffs are really welcoming and have good vibe. Although some seat in the bar has a fixed position (can't move them) and it's not that comfortable especially for tall people. Luckily there are other type of seating around the area. 3. Room: It's a hit and miss, some people may liking it, some may not. For me, honestly it works when I travel solo and for vacation. I will not choose this hotel if I travel with friends or business. Room is small, but again, for my current purpose of travel, it's cozy enough for me. I don't pack like crazy, so I had enough space for my luggage and other stuffs. Although I do understand some people may still like have more ample space even they travel solo. Good thing is that the room is clean, but quiet... well that is really depend on your neighbors: wall is thin. 4. Moxy Bar: I did have a few drinks in Moxy bar, I also ordered some snacks like the chicken tenders which is surprisingly good. Kudos again for all the staffs, they are really care about all type of guests. Overall, it's a good stay for me and I would love to comeback to this Moxy and try out other Moxys depending on the purpose of my travel.

Great hotel! Stayed for only one night but you can tell the staff cares. Room was clean and bed was very comfortable. Was greeted with a complimentary drink that was delicious. Before checking in i did have a few questions Leo answered perfectly. Will definitely stay here again

Nice hotel in the Gaslamp District. That being said expect to hear noises from the streets. Although I will say not as bad as I expected. Rooms are clean, they are small, not made for hanging out in. Which is fine, just observation. Staff was very friendly and helpful. There is a bar in the lobby and a nice sitting area with games. We were there for a quick one night stay, so didn’t use the amenities.

Stayed here for two nights over the weekend, check in was quick and given two free drinks vouchers to use in the bar. Room was on the 9th and top floor, room was a bit small but worked well. I liked the cloth peg design. Hotel in great location on 6th ave, puts you right in the heart of everything. I would stay again.

This hotel has some good features and lots of character but the drawbacks would prevent me from returning. The good parts: SUPER friendly and cool staff. They make the stay fun. Hip vibe and nice little touches, like snacks available 24/7. And the location is great - right in Gaslamp and close to Petco. Some might like room service or a full-service restaurant (both of which the Moxy lacks) but I was fine ordering from the limited but tasty bar menu, which has options for all three meals. BUT, the bad parts: (1) the rooms are tiny: this might pass for the W in midtown Manhattan but not in SD where most hotels offer far more space; (2) no upgrades - they have only one type of room, so your Bonvoy status won't help get into more comfort; you're stuck in the cramped shoebox; and (3) noise/light my first room faced 6th Ave and was loud at night, and then they moved me to a room on the other side that was thankfully quiet but the blackout shade would not close all the way, so I woke up early with the light; bottom line, I didn't get a good night's sleep any of my 3 nights there.
