"Outstanding Stay"

I had an incredible stay at Hotel Vance in Portland. The vibe of the hotel is modern, creative, and welcoming—exactly what you want in a city like Portland. The rooms were spotless, stylish, and super comfortable, with great attention to detail. Every staff member I interacted with was friendly, helpful, and genuinely seemed to care about making my stay great. Plus, the location is perfect—close to everything downtown but still peaceful at night. Highly recommend and will definitely be back next time I’m in town!

Just stayed at Hotel Vance for the first time and it really hit the mark. Clean room, great service, and the location couldn’t be better. Modern and Trendy. As someone who travels solo often, I felt safe the whole time, which is huge. Glad I found this place.

Great property and location. Everyone at the property was pleasant and hospitable. The Starbucks attached to the property is a welcome amenity early in the morning. The guest rooms are large and well appointed. The housekeeping staff a is awesome and friendly. The size and lack of meeting rooms makes it a great hotel for leisure travel! All the bad press about safety in the downtown area is overblown. We walked around the city and never felt unsafe.

"Would be 5 stars with a comfier bed"

Pros: The rooms are large, lots of places to put your stuff, shower pressure was good, decent fitness center, and nice lounge area on second floor to chill out in if you arrive early (they can also check your bag). Staff were polite and helpful. Cons: the bed is a hard rock and not great for side sleepers, there was loud noise in the mornings around 5am from the street (I think it was dumpster pickups so probably an issue tor most downtown hotels). If the beds were comfier I would stay here again. If you need to park there is an expensive daily fee.

"Not my style---cold, industrial, dark, but best bed!!!"

My rating is biased on my taste. The hotel, which had been called "Red", retains the coldness of the previous hotel's decor. They were going for the "cool industrial" vibe. Unfortunately, in the dreariness of winter especially, this means a cold, dark, and uninviting room, and stark. I had 2 issues while there, both resolved quickly. One was related to cleanliness and the other to a non-functioning item in the room. The bed, however, was really one of the more comfortable beds I've slept in in a hotel. VERY nice, though the sheets don't "fit" properly. Confused with that one. My bottom sheet was on sideways somehow, so I flipped that. The top sheet, well, if I turned it, then lengthwise, it'd have been long, but then, no coverage on the sides at all. Turned the way it was, if you wanted to foot end tucked under mattress, couldn't then have the sheet up to your neck while in bed. Weird. The lobby...I feel sorry for the folks needing to be at the desk. It's sort of a rollaway desk at the front door. Very temporary looking. There is a cozy seating area on the 2nd floor. But, again, the rooms were stark, and dark. Perhaps in the middle of summer during a heat wave in Portland, they'd be OK. The staff I encountered were all great.
