"Hotel is old/tired."

I’m day 1 into a 2 night stay. So far, I’m underwhelmed. Positives: -The service at breakfast was excellent. Lorraine (Lorri?) was my server and she was excellent. Food was typical Hilton breakfast buffet selection and quality which was just fine. Even though it was a breakfast buffet, she provided great service. -A somewhat ‘kitschy’ thing. The area where the ice machines are located on each floor was decorated in a very ‘cool’ way with movie and music posters. I’ve never seen anything like this. And while it didn’t add or detract from the hotel quality, I found it interesting (b/c I am a movie/music nerd too). -Fitness center was cozy but adequate. Had the essentials for a decent workout, and it’s open 24 hours. -While this is not specific to the HIlton, there are some decent options around the hotel for a morning walk/run, but there are also some ‘sketchy’ areas near the hotel. I never felt unsafe, but you may want to keep your head on a swivel if you head out for a walk/run. There is a decently marked bike/walk path that goes along the water (good views of the Queen Mary and marina area). Negatives: -I was ‘upgraded’ to a private card access only floor and a ‘Pure’ room (I have Diamond Honors’ status). 12 of the 15 floors in the hotel are ‘card access only’ so not sure how it’s an upgrade. The ‘Pure’ room while good in theory, didn’t feel different from any other standard king room except for an air purifier. Which begs the question, is the air ‘bad’ in the other parts of the hotel? If you make a reservation here, don’t pay extra for the ‘private keyed floor’. You’ll probably end up on a private keyed floor anyway. And unless you have severe allergies, don’t fall for the ‘pure’ room gimmick. -Entire hotel, including the room, is in need of a major refresh. Everything feels VERY dated - like this hotel was probably nice in 1998. Now it feels old and tired. Nothing was necessarily dirty, it just feels worn. -Not too sure why, but there were a TON of kids roaming around the hotel. I estimate late grade/middle school age. And majority of the time they were NOT supervised. They weren’t misbehaving per se, but they were loud and running around a lot….leaving garbage around (empty drinking cups) playing pool in the lobby loudly, etc. -While there are plenty of USB/charging ports on the nightstand, there is NOTHING at the room desk. Not conducive for doing work in your room. -There is a pool, but it’s small and also dirty. There was a group in there late night and in the morning, it was a mess with toys and floats still in the pool. Blame can (should) be put on the guests for leaving a mess, but the hotel needs to be more attentive and clean it up. -Unless you like looking at cranes, cargo containers, and a busy highway, opt for a view that is NOT of the port. I hope the port view room is NOT considered an ‘upgraded’ view. I was in an even numbered room. Not sure what the odd numbered rooms look at, but it can’t be worse. -There are 4 elevators, but only 2 of them seemed to be working. And by working, they went up/down. However, the ride felt anything but safe. Both cars I rode in shook like they were about to fall apart.

"Disappointed as a Returning Diamond Member, Poor Experience & No Response"
TripAdvisor user rating 2.0 out of 5
Reviewed June 01, 2025 NEW
As a Hilton Diamond member and someone who has stayed at Hilton Long Beach three times now, I expected a consistent and high-standard experience. Unfortunately, this recent stay was disappointing on multiple levels. First, self-parking was unavailable upon arrival, despite it being listed as an option online. The staff told me it was full and that valet was the only option and this was not communicated beforehand and was very inconvenient. Second, my Diamond status was not acknowledged at check-in. I had to ask about a room upgrade, which I was told wasn’t available. However, I checked online and found higher-category rooms available for the entire length of my stay, which felt dismissive and misleading. The room itself (534) also had a strange setup: the nightstand on one side of the bed was two feet from the wall, with an extension cord awkwardly running over it due to a poorly placed outlet. It felt like a makeshift setup rather than a thoughtfully prepared room. To make matters worse, I sent detailed feedback via email and gave the hotel four days to respond—yet received no reply at all. This lack of acknowledgment adds to the frustration and suggests poor customer care. I’ve come to expect more from Hilton properties, especially as a loyal Diamond member. This stay did not reflect Hilton’s usual service or standards.

Best hotel I stayed at in years. The general manager has created an environment where the staff is super enthusiastic and helpful and not in a creepy way but in a useful way. even the Ducks they have in the lobby are absolutely Charming the pool which is not great is super fun because of the environment they create. It's like staying in a boutique hotel it's really an amazing environment they've created

"Great for pre-cruise!"

We ubered from LAX to here the night before our cruise. It seemed really upscale in the lobby. Everyone was welcoming and friendly. We got a balcony room. The balcony is small, enough for 2 people max, but its nice to sit out there in your little corner and get some fresh air. I really liked it!!! We doordashed twice and it was pretty convenient to wait for it by the front doors/valet. Im so glad i went with this hotel over the queen mary. I would come here again if i ever cruised out of long beach again. They also offered us a free shuttle to the cruise port which saved us money!! I diddnt know they did that but it was super convenient!

Second stay. Chose this location the first time because it is near the port and we needed accommodations for several family members prior to a cruise. It served the purpose, and nothing more. We returned this time by default. We are embarking on another cruise and had booked the Maya. Unfortunately, we were advised near the last minute that the Maya is no longer a Hilton property. So, here we are again at Hilton Long Beach. Let me start with the parking garage. Tip: Pay the extra $10 and valet. If you’re able to find a spot in the garage, good luck squeezing your vehicle into it. The spaces are ridiculously tight, (and I drive a compact vehicle). Next the elevators sound like they’re struggling and about to give out at any moment. Not very reassuring. Next, the tired, dated, dingy, and in some cases dilapidated, condition throughout. Starting in the Enclave bar and restaurant where many tables were dirty and the seating upholstery is torn. Moving to our room with water stains on the ceiling and holes in the lampshades, and the HVAC that blows only cold air (no heat), and a toilet that runs and undulating shower water pressure (as though someone flushed a toilet every other moment, causing the water flow to reduce to a trickle). The front desk staff was friendly and efficient. One Enclave staff member, Bobby, was also exemplary- friendly and very attentive. However, another (Channel) couldn’t be bothered to simply acknowledge our presence, despite us sitting in front of her at the bar for ten minutes. Granted she was busy, but her negative attitude was palpable. Not a nod, or “I’ll be with you when I can”. She was also rude to another couple who were picking up a to-go order that didn’t include condiments they expected. Her response was something to the effect that nobody told her they wanted the condiments and they would have to wait. Based on our experience, I would not return or recommend this property. Despite being committed to Hilton, I will choose any other option when I return to the Long Beach area. Completely disappointed with Hilton for allowing this.
