My son and I stayed in a double queen room including breakfast over a weekend. When I got there I learned that the sit down restaurant doesn't start serving breakfast until 7am on the weekends. Unfortunately we had to be somewhere at 7 so we didn't get breakfast on one of the days. The hotel is near the railroad tracks so listening to the train roll by at night was a bit annoying. Luckily the trains didn't run all night so it didn't keep me up. If I wanted to go to bed early that might've been an issue. After a full day I returned to the room to see that it was not made up. I went down to the lobby and was lectured about a little sign on a mirror in the room that explained the cleaning policy. Apparently you have to ask to have the room made up or it gets done every other day. It would've been nice for someone to tell me this when I checked in. I received some new towels and left it at that. The room is very basic with none of the little niceties I have come to expect in Hilton hotels like make up remover, shower cap, etc. I did have a spider greet me at my door in the morning so there is that. All in all, not my best Hilton stay.

The hotel has been recently updated and has a nice atmosphere. We had several meals catered for our business group and all the meals were excellent including vegan and gluten free meals for a few of us Pablo has been our server the last few years and he is always super accommodating. We will be back again next year for our annual event!

I can’t say enough about Glenn! He was soooo kind and went above and beyond! His service was 10/10! He’s only here on the weekends but it’s too bad he’s not here full time as he is such an asset to this hotel! Thank you Glenn for your kindness and for being such a nice and professional guy! I hope you are still working here when I come back! You need a raise! Haha

I stayed at the Hilton Garden Inn, Dana Point Doheny Beach, in early October 2025. I was there with my daughter, who has health complications and epilepsy. The staff could not have been nicer. They were so helpful and kind, from the first, helping us choose the right room for our needs (thank you, Mark) and then with check-in and assistance all along the way (thank you, Louis). The entire staff was excellent, the hotel is clean and bright, with nice common areas, good food at the restaurant, and partial water views from a rooftop bar and grill. The beds were comfortable, and the room was modern and updated. We had a balcony, which allowed me to keep the door open at night to catch the sea breezes. (Most hotels don't have any windows that open anymore, and I just loved this feature.) It is very close to Doheny Beach, a broad, long beach great for watching surfers. There was a real problem when the hotel had to do a safety check on its fire equipment on the day we checked out. They had given us notice that this would happen, but the sirens were ear-splitting and continued for a long time. And there were flashing lights in the halls and common areas. We could not stay and finish packing, so we went outside. Needless to say, we were more than uncomfortable and somewhat freaked out, as the flashing lights could easily have triggered my daughter's seizures. My adult daughter was shaking and crying on the way down in the elevator. A staff member named Pedro was incredibly reassuring to my daughter, taking her arm and making her feel safer (thank you, Pedro!) We were given a later checkout time so we could leave the grounds, and we came back after all that had finished. They were understanding and as accommodating as possible. I called the manager, Rafael, when I got home to let him know how difficult this was, and when I reached him, he, too, was kind and caring. He made things right for us by compensating part of the stay. All in all, I can recommend this hotel highly, even with our unfortunate experience.

When we stayed at the hotel, we enjoyed the rooftop bar by the fireplace. Randi brought us a blanket because it was chilly. She also wrote down different recommendations to see, as we told her we were heading out soon. We thought she was very attentive & wonderful! Give her a raise!
