This was our first time visiting Hilton Head. We were fortunate to have selected this hotel. The resort's beach access and pool area and amenities provided the relaxing trip we were looking for. The rooms are very clean and the view from the balcony is excellent. We were very happy with the gym, the onsite bicycle rental, and bar at the pool. The on site restaurant, Blue, was also excellent with great service and delicious food. We had a small issue at check in. The room we had requested on the 10th floor was not available and we were given a room on the 6th floor. Upon entering the room we discovered that it was occupied. The staff apologized for the mistake, credited us $100 dollars and found us a room on the 10th floor. One staff member in particular was particularly helpful and friendly. Anais Bahary, provided excellent service and represents the quality of staff that we expect from Hilton.

"What it is, and what it isn’t."

I have titled this what it is and what it isn’t because to do so will help you enjoy yourself a whole lot more than what I read in some of the prior reviews. Yes, its a 50 year old property but I truly believe they have done a remarkable job of making it modern, inviting, CLEAN, and full of great amenities. You’ll notice some of the things that look dated architecturally but that is meaningless compared to the service, hospitality, and great experience we had. First, let me say we stayed in an oceanfront king room (it was our anniversary) with an amazing view of sunrise. We brought our own coffee maker from home and got up every morning to watch this amazing event complete with dolphins jumping through the waves. Second, the beds are comfy, the bathrooms spacious, and you are greeted in your room with a fruit and cheese plate, snacks, and goodies (not sure if thats done for everyone or just Hilton Honors members like us, but either way its an incredible touch of class). Third, the amenities like deck space, shade, beach access are second to none. We were there Wednesday through Sunday and it did get more crowded on Saturday, but nothing bad. I would imagine during the height of summer vacation season it could get a little peoply. We were there after Labor Day so it was an older crowd and few children. The restaurants are good. They are not 5 stars, so the sooner you go in understanding that the more you will enjoy them. Our service was good (albeit sometimes slow as it is understaffed) and friendly with excellent recommendations (we liked the eggplant appetizer at Blue). When I say the restaurants were good, I mean we enjoyed every meal we had there, but its not fine dining. There are excellent diverse choices that are well prepared, plated, and served. For the bourbon lovers, Blue has the entire line of Buffalo Trace bourbons and excellent per pour rates. I was blown away (Stagg, Blantons, Weller 12, EH Taylor Small Batch, Weller green, red, and white label). For dessert on our last night there my wife got the lava cake with vanilla bean ice cream and I paired it with Weller 12. It was heavenly! HHI has plenty of great restaurants and shopping off property but you could easily stay on property your entire stay just fine (paying for your meals of course). The walk up bar on the pool deck is great. They will make you anything the way you want. My wife likes rum runners with a spiced rum floater on top. They made this for her PERFECTLY every time! My only complaint is that there is nowhere close to enough handicap parking near the entrance and they don’t have a reasonable accommodation. My wife is mobility challenged and when there was no handicap spots left near the front entrance we were told we would have to park in the lower lot and the bellman would come get our bags. They just seemed unaware that this isn’t a forward thinking acceptable solution for someone who can’t walk back up the hill. Fortunately, a space did open up and I grabbed it and kept us parked there for the duration as we needed to get in and out of our vehicle several times throughout. Also, wouldn’t rent bikes from the Outfitters on the first floor. Have Island Life Bikes deliver you a bike. They are better, and have great ebikes. We absolutely will be returning. We are already planning our next September trip to HHI and it will be to return here.
