"Extremely Disappointing Experience"

My wife and I stayed at the Hampton Inn Savannah-Historic District for 3 days (May 13-16, 2025) and enjoyed our stay. On May 15, we decided to extend our stay but the room we were in was not available so a new reservation was required. However, due to work requirements I needed to leave as originally scheduled and cancelled the new reservation 3 hours later. The new reservation and cancellation were all completed at the hotel with front desk staff. No mention was made of a 'late-cancellation' when I cancelled at the front desk. Now, I find the hotel has charged me $306 for the room - even though we did not stay! After speaking on the phone today with a quite rude 'front-desk attendant', I asked to speak to the manager but he was 'with customers'. I held on for 30 minutes, even though he knew I was waiting to speak to him. Needless to say, this hotel and Hilton has received their last dollar from me. I have stayed at Hampton Inns regularly for over 30 years but not again. Overall, an extremely disappointing experience...

"Nice Hotel, Room w/a View"

This hotel is in a great location right across the street from River Street shopping and dining. We really liked the location for its proximity to other restaurants and tourist spots such as Vinnie Van Go Go’s and bars. The room was very comfortable and had a great view of the river. We did have some issues with the air conditioning not being cool enough at times, but it was also over a 100° out a couple of the days that we visited. I would highly recommend the hotel for its friendly front desk, excellent location, and very well appointed room with a great view.

Fairly good hotel, superb location in the historic district, beautiful room, solid free breakfast. The only downside was the service at the reception desk, which could have been much better. Checkin took very long and not really friendly.

"Great base location for walking Savannah"
TripAdvisor user rating 4.0 out of 5

The Historic District Hampton was a great location for walking the historic areas of Savannah and we had a fantastic view of Emmett Park, the bridge, and cargo ships, with a sliver of river in sight. We walked from the Hampton to SCADs numerous locations on one day, then walked to City Market and River Street the next. Over 10,000 steps each day, through shaded squares and along historic, narrow roads. We were in Room 602, the last room on the floor. The views were great! It was quite interesting to be so close to cargo ships, and almost even with the top containers. The result on itself is a different shape due to hotel stairs. Therefore there is no closet. There is a small wardrobe in the corner of the room. There are also some knobs on the wall, which was enough for our needs. Nightstands on both sides of the bed with usb connections and plugs available. We had no issues during our 3 night stay. Concierge was great! All the staff were nice. Breakfasts were good. Shower had slightly adjustable stream and got HOT. I love hot showers. We did park in the City garage directly across the street. Definitely saved about $20 a night.
