"No southern hospitality"

Not so much Southern hospitality at this hotel. The good…location. The bad…rude staff. The front desk clerks had no personality and were not attentive to our concerns. The cleaning staff were outright rude. We checked in late on Thursday and stayed until Monday. On Sunday we chose to have a relaxing day inside to rest for an evening tour. We tried to nap around 1pm, put the do not disturb sign out, but ALL DAY LONG the doors on our floor were being opened and slammed (ALL DAY LONG) with seconds in between each slamming. Most places we’ve stayed at, the cleaners would prop the doors open with their carts. Not these ladies. They used the attached door stops and just opened and slammed all day. My husband had to leave to find asprin. Not sure how much cleaning they actually do because upon check in our bathroom floor was dirty and there was lint and someone’s pill on our carpet. The ladies room near the breakfast area was always filthy. Also, they won’t tell you that the parking garage DIRECTLY across the street from the entrance is a fraction of the cost than the valet. We chose the garage because we like to come and go. Best decision we made. On Saturday there was a big traffic jam at the driveway entrance and people had LONG waits to valet their vehicle. Traffic was backed up to Bay Street. Overall, it’s very unfortunate about the staff because the location was great and the view from the 7th floor was nice. If we return to Savannah we will choose the next door Hilton.

Elavian was a highlight of our visit !!!! He is part of the valet team. From our first interaction and during our trip was a welcoming and friendly face during all of our interactions !!!!! I recommend he needs a promotion or atleast a raise, he is a keeper !!!!

The Hampton Inn at downtown historical district was top notch. It was southern hospitality at its best! Elavian, our attendant at Valet parking, couldn’t have been better. He is a very charming young man g man who was very helpful when we checked in and each time we needed to get our car. Also consierge was excellent providing us very good information about places to visit and restaurants. We had a wonderful weekend in Savanah.

The staff is very welcoming. Our room was right on Bay Street, so you could see the river from our room. Which did make it to where you could hear the traffic at night, though. The location to River Street and all the great restaurants sure made it to where you really didn't care about that. They had a continental breakfast until 10:00 am. If I had anything negative, the valet parking needs some organization. I would definitely Recommend.

4 stars because of the one elevator not working. Key on app worked at first and then didn't work and had to get an actual key from front desk. The valet/front door area is very tight and somewhat dangerous. The best part of the hotel was the location. We got to see big cargo ships go by from our room. Not sure we would stay here again.
