"Globalists beware of awful customer service and benefits"

Stayed here hoping that as a Grand Hyatt, I would have an exceptional experience. As a Hyatt Globalist, I stay over 60 nights a year at Hyatt properties and was looking forward to redeeming my points for a great experience in downtown SF. However, what I experienced was a nightmare. Right out the gate, the valet was awful, leaving me double parked in the bus/taxi lane because they hadn't parked or moved ANY of the cars in the valet area. I finally had to get out of my car after about 10 minutes to flag down a staff member for assistance. At check-in, I was told that even though I had access to a club lounge, that they did drinks and breakfast at the hotel bar. I proceeded to my hotel room to find that the walls were so thin, I could hear word for word what other guests in the room next to mine were saying. And even though they thought to put hand lotion in the bathroom, they didn't leave any hand soap. The next morning I came down for breakfast to find the restaurant in absolute chaos. There were at least 15-20 people all waiting to be seated in the hotel's small restaurant with no host or hostess present. When I went down to the front desk to bring these issues to their attention, I was offered the opportunity to speak with a manager, and then curtly told to go back upstairs because "she's in the restaurant". I ended up walking across the street to get Starbucks because at least I knew I could get a decent customer service experience there. This hotel doesn't deserve to fly the Grand Hyatt flag and needs to make significant changes to their customer service skills and how they treat Hyatt Globalists before I'd even consider staying here again.

"Average experience"

Great location in union square. A lot going on for the holidays. Doorman opened the door for us maybe twice the whole time. Not sure why he is there if not to do that. Front desk staff were friendly and quick. They were accommodating with an early check in. We redeemed our world of Hyatt points for the trip. We were disappointed with the room location. No view and right up against the service elevator. Loud noises were a regular occurrence. That must explain why they provided ear plugs. I understand that we weren’t paying cash, but points have the same value. The room was above average. AC unit was on a motion sensor which was frustrating. The bed was probably one of the most uncomfortable beds I have slept in. My wife and I were waking up constantly every night. The bathroom was nice. Overall I’d say the stay was average. It is nice in that you know the rooms will be clean and good quality.

"A bunch of little issues..."

I love Hyatt hotels typically but this one missed the mark. Valet put me in a spot to unload, then asked me to move car to another location when I had my arms full of stuff. Check in was not welcoming/borderline rude. Room was very loud at night (even on 20th floor) and lounge chair/ottoman in room had visible stains all over. Valet at checkout didn't have car ready when they said they would and we ended up waiting an extra 10-15 minutes (after waiting 15 min already after texting the number they told us to text). All in all, not a great stay. Great location right near Union Square, though. Liked that!

"Excellent hotel in fantastic location"

This hotel has good, clean rooms in a wonderful location. The breakfast buffet is fantastic and the service was outstanding, particularly in the OneUp restaurant, but also at check-in and room cleaning. This hotel genuinely is in Union Square, and not three blocks away like so many others that claim to be in Union Square but are Tenderloin adjacent. It is also next to San Francisco's Chinatown, and to the cable car line on Powell. The BART and Muni stops are only 3 blocks away, and at least when we visited around Thanksgiving, the steets were sparkling and there was a lot of foot traffic. I haven't seen San Francisco streets as clean in several years, and clearly tourism seems to be back in downtown. There are lots of good restaurants and cafes in the neighborhood.
