We came to Fairmont Breakers for Valentine’s Day weekend and received a warm welcome from Celeste at the front desk! The food is delicious at all of the outlets including Sky Room and Nettuno. Pool and Halo are also lovely! Michael at the Spa is the best. There were several billing issues at check-out with a front desk employee. Thankfully these issues were resolved later with a call center agent. Parking is $50.00 a night and 20% gratuity is automatically added to restaurant charges.

"So worth the splurge & the Spa is a must!"

WoW Wow Wow, this place is absolutely phenomenal. I spent a fantastic 48 hours cocooned in the Fairmont’s elegance, hospitality and service. Whoever is in charge of hiring and training did an excellent job in recruiting a wonderful team. Every encounter was polite and gracious. I felt well cared for by the staff, there are too many to name but some were stand outs during my stay. Bernard, a charming sweet man who helped with my luggage, Mark at Halo, so kind, professional and accommodating, Luis at Nettuno recommended the best crab pasta, never rushed me and allowed me time and space to enjoy a long & delicious lunch. Mariah at the spa & another gentleman who was there with her (pardon me I forgot his name). They both exuded such peace and tranquility I immediately relaxed in their presence. Onna the absolute best therapist, she knew what my body needed and got out all the tension and muscles aches. The spa is a nicely appointed clean facility, they have a lovely relaxing lounge, and an excellent eucalyptus infused steam room that allowed me to detox completely. Highly recommend taking advantage of their spa promo right now, you won’t regret it. The hotel itself is an architectural delight, with white marble, high ceilings, opulent lighting, rooms are on the petite side but comfortable, I slept like a baby, nicely decorated, it also has an espresso machine and a tiny fridge. I did not want to leave and found no reason to step out, they had everything you needed. There is a decent size gym 2 levels with new modern equipment for a great workout. A large heated pool with tons of plush seating will definitely be a hit when the weather warms up. I had a fun time bar hopping; there are 4 bars on the property and each bar is unique and stylish. La Sala is the only one that opens early , the rest opens at 5pm. Alter Ego has live music, Skyroom has a small bar area, if you can’t snag dinner rsvp you can at the bar, first come first serve. Halo my fave is the best rooftop bar with incredible views of LBC and the Queen Mary. Drinks are definitely on the pricey side but worth it. The bars are a vibe with a mixture of in-house guests and outside patrons for a mature, eclectic, unpretentious and fun atmosphere. There are only two restaurants; Nettuno has excellent Italian food, and the Skyroom is classy, stunning sophistication, both offers a sumptuous dining experience. This fine establishment is less than two months old, indeed there are areas of improvement as they work out the kinks, but in a few more months no doubt they will be running at 100% perfection. The Fairmont is a grand addition to the city and I am so happy it’s here. Thank you Fairmont you are sooooo worth the splurge, I had the best staycation and can’t wait to return.

We have been looking forward to the opening of the Fairmont Breakers an dI am happy to say, it is a beautiful hotel keeping true to the 1926 style. The suggestions I have to make it even better are easily implemented and would change my rating to a 5. As I said, Halo is lovely with excellent views, service everywhere was great and we loved the decor and style of the jazz bar. However, while the jazz band was excellent, I hope they are a resident band, the drinks were skimpy and weak. Also, most high end places serve nuts or chips with drinks which help make you feel less corporate and skimpy. My biggest disappointment was to learn that while beautiful with a lovely view, the Sky Room will not have live music for dancing. As a long time Long Beach resident, that was our favorite place to go for special nights out. Without music and dancing it becomes just another nice place for dinner, not special. I am writing this review in hopes a few change may be made to truly make the Breakers that special place again.

"Elegant yet comfortable…The newly restored Breakers/Fairmont Hotel in Long Beach, California….."

What a plus for Long Beach, California to have this fabulous gem! The once Breakers Hotel built in 1925 has been a landmark here forever. So much history to it, yet with the outbreak of WWII it slowly deteriorated. It’s been many things…Hollywood stars were attracted to it, the military used it, & it had been a senior living facility in the 90s. It has had many owners, but now the fabulous Fairmont Hotel has scooped it up & completely renovated this beautiful building. Thank goodness!! As usual, with their impeccable taste, this landmark thrives once again. My husband & I had dinner there for his birthday. Only the one restaurant Nettuno’s was open this particular Sunday night. It’s gorgeous!! The service is over-the-top from the moment you walk up to the magnificent front doors plus throughout. Architecturally outstanding in every way. It was like going back to the glamorous days. Every inch has been remodeled. We first had a cocktail in the Alter Ego bar (1 of 3 bars) which is quite dark compared to others. But great ambiance & very high ceilings which is the highlight of the entire structure. From there we went to Nettuno’s dining room located on the first floor. The 2nd restaurant is the Sky Room on the top floor which we cannot wait to see! Nettuno’s was so comfortable, lavish, palms everywhere & warm lighting…absolutely perfect.(The worse are super brights lights in your face while dining) The hostess, Christy, greeted us & was so gracious. The manager, Martin, quickly provided me with a pillow for my back as, although the sofa I sat on was comfortable, the pillow made it so much more. He was wonderful! We were each given a glass of champagne for the birthday (nice touch) then we ordered the Fiori di Zucca fritti (stuffed zucchini flowers) as an appetizer. Delicious! My husband had the tagliatelle bolognese (beef, pork & veal) which was fantastic. I ordered the Gnudi di Ricotta stuffed with asparagus & sunchokes plus black truffles…oh my!! Sort of a lighter version of gnocchi & fabulous. A nice bottle of Vermintino was perfect. We were too full for dessert, but were told their tiramisu is outrageous…next time. Beautiful wine & cocktail list. Reservations highly recommended. An only negative is the obscene charge of $25 to valet your car. A bit high for having just dinner. We definitely plan to return.

"Lovely hotel on Day 5!"

My sister and I met for a night at this new (5th night!) Fairmont in Long Beach. We were lucky to get a 12th floor room with the arched windows, which was a really nice architectural feature, though the windows were mostly blocked by the headboards of the 2 queen beds. Everything was brand new, so very clean and bright. Soft towels and luxe heavy robes. The bed was VERRRY comfy, perfectly firm mattress with added euro pillowtop for comfort. Two sinks in the bathroom, with separate glass enclosed WC and lovely shower with overhead shower and separate handheld wand. The water pressure and temp were both great, and the bright marble tiles with some pretty veining were lovely. The light controls in the bathroom were really great and well marked - which is not a thing a lot of hotels get right. I appreciated that the "all off" button had a slight delay so that you weren't stepping into a totally dark room from the bathroom in the middle of the night. One quibble I have is with the sliding barndoor style bathroom door, which had a lot of open space around it which meant light leaked into the room at night and also diminished privacy a little. My only other issue with the room was the Nespresso machine, which was blinking white lights all night. We called in the morning to ask how to use it and were not successful getting an answer. A google search indicated we probably should have unplugged and restarted, which was impossible given that the plug is behind a wall length credenza which is too heavy and impossible to move. A nice gesture would have been to have a cup of coffee or tea sent up to the room given the trouble trying to use the machine. We dined twice at Nettuno - dinner and lunch the following day. Both excellent. Especially the ricotta stuffed zucchini fritters and tiramisu at dinner, and the burrata with figs and prosciutto at lunch. Both servers were excellent - the woman at night was very charming and also quite efficient. Sorry I can't recall her name. Chris at lunch was quite nice and pleasant. We checked out the upstairs bar at night. It is probably going to be quite popular, but we decided to get a drink at the jazz lounge downstairs. The rooftop bar is in a sort of square turret and is quite a unique space with lovely dark green and brass tones. Nice and moody. The way they put the large plate glass windows inside the historic arches is impressive. I suspect that some of the seating options in this bar and the lounge downstairs are not going to win over a lot of people with comfort despite their good looks as they are somewhat smaller scaled and with no real backs - almost glorified stools like one would see in a British or Irish pub, though these are upholstered. The building itself is absolutely beautiful and they did a great job preserving the old 1926 architectural features, while decorating in a way that echoes the past (retro Hollywood pics, potted palms) but also is nicely modern as well. The art on the walls and the chandeliers in Nettuno are a glamorous, swanky touch. Service was very friendly and attentive at the door, desk, and really everywhere. Would stay again!
