READ THE REVIEWS BEFORE BOOKING. I truly wish I had. We stayed here briefly while passing through Portland with my pregnant wife and our 2-year-old child. We arrived very late, exhausted, slept a few hours, and went to breakfast in the morning. Breakfast itself was disappointing—poor service, a dark basement-like space with no natural light, and very limited food—but honestly, none of that would have prompted me to write a review. What did? A $300 smoking fee charged to my credit card. Yes, you read that correctly. The hotel, through management (Mr. Ross), claimed that a smoke detector “detected vaping.” Let me repeat the context: me, my pregnant wife, and our 2-year-old child. We do not smoke. We do not vape. My wife booked the room in her name, and I provided my card at check-in. After checkout, my card was charged $300 with no warning, no discussion, and no physical evidence—only a vague claim that “the sensor detected something.” Before writing this review, I spent days calling, emailing, and trying to resolve this calmly and respectfully. During that process, I did something important: I read the reviews. What I discovered is alarming. This is the only Hilton property I could find with a repeated pattern of guests being charged $300 smoking fees they strongly dispute. There are more than 10 similar reviews in just the last few months—families, non-smokers, long-time Hilton guests—many describing nearly identical situations. Other Hilton hotels? No such pattern. This hotel? Over and over again. At that point, it became very clear that this is not an isolated incident. I am sharing this so other travelers—especially families—can make an informed decision. Please read the reviews carefully before booking and check your final bill closely. We stopped here by mistake. I strongly recommend avoiding this hotel.

Year after year, Gorana consistently goes above and beyond to make us feel genuinely welcomed, remembered, and cared for. Her customer service is not just excellent — it’s rare. She takes the time to ensure every detail is perfect, always with warmth, professionalism, and a sincere desire to make our stay memorable. Whether it’s thoughtfully assisting us with a slightly later checkout or simply checking in to make sure we’re comfortable, she makes us feel like valued guests, not just room numbers. Most importantly, this hotel is the cleanest and most comfortable place we have ever stayed in Portland, and it’s clear that Gorana takes immense pride in maintaining those standards. The atmosphere she helps create is calm, welcoming, and impeccably maintained. We honestly continue to return because of her. Gorana has turned this hotel into a Christmas tradition for our family, and we wouldn’t stay anywhere else. The impeccably excellent service that Kirstin rendered to me truly exceeded my expectations! She was exceptionally professional, profoundly polite and extremely helpful and friendly. The room that I requested and was assigned to me was Excellent! It truly matched the Excellent service that Kirstin rendered to me. The unwavering kindness that Kirstin rendered to me truly made my three day stay extremely enjoyable! We stayed over the weekend as a birthday getaway. The staff were amazing! As a Hilton Honors Gold member, I was given priority service and regular text communication checking on me, my stay and if the staff could do anything to help. I have stayed at many Hilton properties around the world and this one has to be near the top in regard to service. Thank you!

Excellent valet! Brook and steven were very helpful! And attentive to our needs! We had a great stay and look forward to returning.
