"Don’t leave anything behind"

Stayed March 24–26. Unfortunately, my experience after checkout was extremely disappointing. I accidentally left my backpack in the room, which contained my laptop. I didn’t realize it until the next morning when I was already about 400 miles away. I immediately contacted the hotel and asked them to check the room, but they told me it wasn’t there. Concerned that the door may not have fully closed when we left, I asked if they could review their security footage to see whether anyone entered the room or left with my backpack. I made it clear I was not asking for a copy of the video—only for them to review it internally. However, I was repeatedly told that they could not even check the footage unless I was physically present to verify my identity. This made no sense to me, as simply reviewing the footage would not require sharing any sensitive information. After escalating the issue to multiple staff members and getting the same response, I became increasingly concerned that the reluctance to review the footage might be an attempt to avoid uncovering something involving staff. Losing a laptop is bad enough, but the lack of cooperation and unwillingness to investigate made the situation far worse. Based on this experience, I cannot recommend staying here, especially if you expect help resolving an issue after checkout.

"Great casino, terrible comps"
TripAdvisor user rating 3.0 out of 5

I have always enjoyed the size, location and overall vibe of El Cortez. I have gambled at the property whenever I have gone to Las Vegas, but this was my first time staying there. The room was comfortable and met my needs. I like that there is a room refrigerator, which is rare at LV hotels. I am disappointed that El Cortez is drastically cutting back on players comps. I gambled at El Cortez for 2 days and was only offered a small discount on a return stay. In comparison to other downtown properties where I only gambled a few hours during this trip, I was offered free nights at The D, Circa and Golden Nugget. El Cortez also tacks on a $30 nightly resort fee. My group will not be staying at El Cortez during our next trip since they have become so tight with the comps. I can only assume they are getting an adequate number of players due to influencers such as Vegas Matt promoting the property. It’s disappointing El Cortez no longer offers loyal longtime customers good deals to lure them back.

We spent four nights at this amazing hotel. They have really upped their game. The Prime Rib special at Siegel 1941 was perfect. They even still had Rare late at night. The Hot Dog Cart also hit the spot for a snack. Our room was cleaned everyday. We witnessed both Lady Luck HQ and Vegas Matt win multiple jackpots on different nights.
