What a mixed bag this hotel was. Judging by the reviews and photos posted online, this place looks borderline resort-like. We were headed back to STL and wanted a place to crash by the airport, so we picked this one, as it had the best proximity to airport and ratings online compared to competitors. The actual hotel is beautiful and in a very convenient location. We were impressed by the sprawling lobby and friendly lobby staff until we got to our room. We booked one of their nicest rooms, a King Suite with a balcony, so we were surprised that it was rather run-down. The AC was blowing pretty hot air and it was about 79F inside. You could feel the very hot Phoenix sun through the windows (bad seals, maybe). Additionally, the carpet was very old and there were yellow moldy/water damaged ceiling tiles; along with what looked like actual mold on the shower ceiling. Besides the subpar room, all of the bathrooms on the main level were trashed. Feces and urine in the toilets, more moldy & even some missing ceiling tiles. One thing that was very appreciated was the clean and functioning workout room, which was the only area without visible water damage. After having a rough nights sleep and waking up with bad allergies, either due to the mold or old carpet, we tried the breakfast. While there were quite a few options, everything tasted old. The gravy was cold and chunky, and there wasn’t enough breathing room to eat with all of the screaming families. Thankfully we were only staying for one night, and here is when the experience turns 3 star worthy: LaDonna. We showed her the photos of the water damage and explained our discomfort with the room, and she actually cared. She expressed her sincerest apologies and seemed shocked with our issues. Ladonna comped our entire stay, including all food and room charges. We walked out paying not a dime. We did not ask for a refund or even expect anything from her, but she did the right thing and beyond. While I wouldn’t stay at this hotel again, LaDonna deserves a raise.

This hotel stands out from all the rest, is architecturally beautiful from the inside and outside, has six story atrium, represents well the colors and architecture of the desert area, the rooms are comfortable and well-appointed with the furniture and things you need while on vacation. This hotel offers free breakfast with eggs and sausage, juice, and every breakfast food you can possible imagine, free good coffee throughout the day. It also has a rotating dinner menu which the hotel calls snacks, but are really three or four course meals, with salad bar and chips/salsa bar every evening. The hotel staff is friendly and helpful, I wouldn't stay anywhere else in Phoenix.
