My husband and I are Diamond members and have always chosen Hilton for its quality and service. Upon check-in, we were told we were being upgraded to a larger room with a full ocean view. Naturally, we were excited — but the reality was quite the opposite. We were given a queen double room with only a partial water view, and the condition of the room was extremely disappointing. It was filthy, with sand on the floor, and the furnishings were old, worn, and in need of serious attention. The walls peeling, and with holes. It is far from what we consider acceptable — and certainly not an upgrade. A staff member named Jeff texted shortly after check-in to ask if everything was okay. I replied that the room was in poor condition and didn’t resemble an upgrade. His response was simply that the room is considered “ocean front” and “renovated.” Frankly, if this is considered renovated, I’d hate to see the unrenovated rooms. I’ve taken photos and will be forwarding them to Hilton Corporate. This is not the level of service or quality we expect from a Hilton-branded hotel — let alone as loyal Diamond members.

This place should be condemned The toilets in the womens room in the reception area were all clogged when we were checking out. And.. 1) The room that we were assigned was very difficult to get to with our luggage, (room 108) was far from the restaurant and the other amenities. I had to carry all the luggage myself until I could finally find a cart. 2) luggage carts: when I finally found carts, the luggage carts were old and warped. There is dirty carpeting material on the bottom of the carts. The top of the carts were sticky and we didn't want to put any of our belongings on the carts. 3) the parking is confusing and there are people smoking in the parking garage. 4) there were large cockroaches in the hallway. I reached out to the front desk on the app and it wasn’t really dealt with property. 5) The lazy river and pool at DoubleTree are outdated and dirty. It’s dark and seems unsafe for kids. There is moldy areas around the chalking and it's smelly and gross. The bugs are so invasive. 6) In our room (108), the counter top at the sink is leaking and the water is getting all over the clothes and the floor in the room since the sink is in the bed area of the room 7) The pathways from the Doubletree to the registration and restaurant are through parking areas and car thoroughfares. Seems very unsafe for pedestrians. 8) The hotel room walls are so thin that I could hear babies and kids through the walls. 9) The bathtub is high from all the chalking and mending and the ceiling is low in the rooms. 10) there is one bottle of water in the room 11) the floors are so dirty throughout the property FWIW - the cleaning service seems understaffed, they need more support -the food is good and the service is excellent at the restaurant -the location is precious. The state should just claim eminent domain and make this part of the state park nearby. This property management doesn’t deserve this location. They don’t take care of the precious gifts that they have been given

Don’t let the photos fool you, this hotel is a s***hole. The layout is so inconvenient and your room is located off site from the hotel lobby and restaurant. It was such a pain to have to walk over to the other building; particularly if you were having an issue with your room. For us, as soon as we checked into our room, we were surprised to see how dirty everything was. It did not meet Hilton standards at all. Our neighbor’s room had two barking dogs that did not stop once while we were in our room. The walls were paper thin and had various leaks and bulging water areas on the ceiling. The toilet was cracked and leaked water everywhere, and there was mold somehow on the bed’s platform. So disgusting. The grounds to the hotel are filthy and had garbage everywhere. None of it was cleaned up during the four days of our stay, and I never saw any groundskeepers or attendants walking around. I’m not sure who the genius was who came up with this idea, but the dumpsters and waste disposal were literally at the front of the building as you enter the lobby. In the hot, South Carolina air, you can’t avoid getting hit with the smell of rotting garbage as soon as you enter. I understand some hotels are dog friendly, but it seemed like everyone had dogs with them and not everyone cleaned up after their pet. There was dog feces in the car garage. The hotel is on its own section of the beach, which was the only nice aspect to this stay. The location is not convenient at all to the rest of Myrtle Beach, and that was something I should have researched better. Based on how dead it was, it doesn’t seem like anyone is coming to this place. The restaurant, Ocean Blue, did have very good food, but for a high price. This trip was a timeshare presentation offer and I can safely say I will never buy anything Hilton. I think we’re going to switch to Marriott after this experience. It was totally unacceptable. Just to add, we went to Charleston and stayed at the Homewood Suites in the historic district; what a DIFFERENCE. It was night and day.

Hilton Grand Vacations. I am grateful for your 3-night package on the oceanfront! I am a divorced father of two. Without this package, I wouldn't be able to travel this year. In addition, the front counter staff Susan Bainey was fantastic! The staff at the restaurant across from the front counter was awesome as well as the food! The fire & light shows were great as well! Thank you.

"Not for Diamonds."

This is the only Hilton-affiliated property that did not treat me like the LIFETIME HILTON DIAMOND member that I am. They could have said, "Thank you for being a Diamond member, and welcome to our hotel." No. Never happened. I suppose I have been spoiled over the years by a preponderance of professional staff at OTHER Hilton-branded properties. The front desk person told me, "Not at this hotel; diamond does not mean anything." Oops, almost forgot I received $10 off the $25 per night parking, a block and a half away, in a filthy garage with narrow parking spaces—good service and food in the non-hotel adjoining restaurant. Clean room. Nice view. Friendly town. Don't use AVIS.
