I have stayed at various Hiltons in Canada, US, and Asia for over 15 years. My stay at the Hilton in Victoria, BC was my first stay. I arrived around close to 3 pm and thought I would check in if possible, or leave my luggage, as check-in is often at 4 pm. Most Hiltons will allow guests to check in earlier, as I have experienced at other Hiltons. When I arrived, there were 4 staff behind the counter. A blonde-haired female staff was serving a family and told me to go to the next staff desk to check-in. I moved over, but the male staff proceeded to serve two other women, and another female staff was explaining something to him. Maybe he was in training. So, I waited, and then the blonde-haired staff called me back to her counter. I mention my reservation and she tells me, “We are fully booked.” I never asked if they were fully booked. She proceeded to inform me, “Your room is not ready, your room is on the 2nd floor.” I said, “I don’t want near the elevator. She tells me, “It is near the elevator.” What is the point of asking guests to list on Hilton membership what they want, when it cannot provide basic services? I informed her this was booked months ago. Finally, after checking me in, she informs me, “We will text you once the room is ready. I remark this check-in is like a musical chair. I went for a walk and at 4 pm, I check my phone, and there is no text from Hilton. I returned to Hilton and got my key, and my luggage, and no cookie. The room 203, second floor, is tiny. It is not for a large person as you can see in the photo how squeezed the washroom is. No bathtub. Yes, you can hear traffic on the road. On day 2, I call the front desk for complimentary water bottles. I was informed there is a cost. I responded, “But other Hiltons I stayed at provide complimentary bottled water.” To which he replied, “sure, we will send up 2 bottles.” When I ordered breakfast room service, in the breakfast receipt there is a “delivery fees” and a “service charge.” But in my final hotel receipt, the service charge is termed as “Room Service Tips.” Why the discrepancy? But also odd, when the staff brought my breakfast, the staff asked me “Do you want to carry your tray into the room.” I carried my tray onto the table versus having to deal with more of this very bizarre room service. The nicest, courteous, and service with a smile is Jeff the valet. He is amazing!! In summary after my experience at this Hilton, I will not ever return to this Hilton or recommend it.

"Would not recommend staying here"

I stayed here from June 12-16th with my husband and toddler and would not stay here again for an abundance of reasons. 1. Right when we checked in my husband was struggling with all our luggage and carrying our son, but no one offered to help bring our stuff to our room (I could not help because I recently got surgery and am on a weight lifting/activity restriction). 2. Once again, the staff at the front desk really need work on their mannerisms and making staff feel welcome. We were told prior to check-in we could use their freezer for my breast milk that I was pumping, but when we brought it to them we received the following response 'I guess we can check if there is room." 3. It is a "newer" hotel, but the elevators take forever and are also cramped and the rooms are not exactly the cleanliest (there was dry urine on our toilet and hair in our tub). The water temperature also fluctuates between hot and cold!! My thoughts were validated by my two colleagues who stayed here as well and echoed the same sentiments - they would not stay here again due to the unfriendly front desk staff and the overall hotel.

"nice hotel in downtown Victoria and rooms are clean and very well maintained staff is super friendly"

hotel is clean and very well maintained. bathroom needs more hooks for wet towels and the faucet is too short as water splashes easily when washing hands. balcony windows needs to be replaced as we can hear the buses go by and people talking outside although they are closed right. The curtains are perfect and there is great starbucks coffee available in the roi or downstairs in the lobby. Cleaning staff is 100% super friendly and overall the experience is good. in a great location near the conference centre and all tourist areas.

Friendly and helpful staff, yummy breakfasts, and comfortable rooms! We had a great stay here. The view was nice, and the construction noise next door was not that loud in our room and wasn’t really an issue. The location is very convenient for downtown and the bay. I would definitely stay here again.

We stayed 4 nights in a beautiful waer/mountain view king room with balcony on the 16th floor! Amazing view! Room very clean & spacious, bed/pillows & luxurious linens so very comfortable, modern shower & washroom with Crabtree Evelyn amenities, fridge/microwave, A convenient location downtown within walking distance of many attractions … Provincial Legislature, Fisherman’s Wharf, Harbour Air seaplanes, water taxi, horse drawn carriage rides, beautiful waterfront boardwalk, etc. at Fishermen’s Wharf, we saw many floating houses, some of them B & B’s for a truly unique experience ! Many excellent restaurants nearby, our favourites were the amazing Ithaca Greek Restaurant directly across street from Doubletree Hilton, Bartholomew’s Pub in hotel, Blue Fox Cafe & Frankie’s Modern Diner nearby for amazing breakfasts. Aldo, Crust Bakery one block over on Fort Street is another hidden gem … their warm Pork & Fennel Sausage Roll, & other delectably irresistible pastries are to die for! You definitely must do Blue Fish Red Fish take out on the wharf for the best fish & chips we’ve ever had!!! Don’t let the lineups discourage you, it’s worth the wait!!! Lots of sheltered seating at the back !!! We used the BC Victoria transit to tour further out, including the Breakwater boardwalk just past the cruise ship terminal - just $5 for a day pass !! And the bus stop right across the hotel! Victoria is a lovely city!!!
