"Beware: Car theft and break ins"
TripAdvisor user rating 1.0 out of 5
Reviewed February 06, 2025 NEW
I marked this stay as terrible so people would know about the break-ins and theft of vehicles from the parking lot. We stayed at the Doubletree Medical Center in January 2025. Early in the month, there was a truck stolen as well as 3-4 other vehicles broken into on one night. The next day we went to MDAnderson and the man at the check-in desk said that around Christmas there was a lady who was having surgery and when she got ready to come to the hospital, she found that her car had been stolen overnight from the Doubletree. Also, another night at the end of January between 6-10 trucks were broken into. I actually saw 6 but two different people whose trucks were broken into said that they were told there were 10. (Photos attached of a few trucks with plastic over the broken windows and one that was not). Also a photo of the security car. If you ask the hotel they will avoid answering the questions about thefts and break-ins. Instead they say that they have security on-site from 10:30 PM until 6 AM. Yes, they have a Smart car that someone does drive around and most times it was there but there were a few times we couldn't see the security car. My question is, if the hotel is right that the security is always there during those hours, how can 6-10 trucks be broken into while security is there circling the lot and how can thefts and break-ins happen multiple nights? This parking lot is not that large. A security person should be able to hear if that many windows are being broken in one night. The one man whose truck was broken into said that he came in really late so it had to be during the night that the break in occurred. So in less than one month there were at least three separate occasions that I am aware of that vehicles were either stolen or broken into. We were told trucks were the most likely targets. On the last occasion it was all trucks. Two people told me that there are always a lot of incidents during the Rodeo every year. That would be March this year. I thought guests of the Doubletree should know about this when considering parking there. Just note, that some of the trucks that were broken into were only a few spaces from the front of the hotel lobby. It was not just vehicles parked further away. Also, note that a worker from the Doubletree told me there are NO parking lot security cameras so there is no help for you if you do get broken into.

"Double tree gets five stars in my book."

I stay at Doubletree regularly and want to express how much I enjoy staying here. One of my favorite things are the staff and how wonderful they make me feel. The breakfast is always amazing. Maria, the woman who does breakfast is like my family. Rowdy is always on time with the shuttle and that’s so important when you need to get back to the room after treatment. We love Double tree. They get five stars in my book. Kristy Moss

"Bad DoubleTree Stay"
TripAdvisor user rating 2.0 out of 5
Reviewed December 10, 2024
This was the worst Double Tree I’ve ever stayed at in my life. Before we got to the hotel we called multiple times to see if we could check in early because we have a small child. They didn’t have it but that’s understandable because early check in isn’t guaranteed. We came back during check in time and our room still wasn’t ready. The service clerk, Michael was very kind and upgraded our room for us and because of that I am rating this a 2 star. Everything else is bad: the digital key didn’t work, our crib for our baby wasn’t stable, we had plugs in our room that were damaged and didn’t work, the elevator buttons to call the elevator wouldn’t work, the tv remote didn’t work, the toilet sometimes wouldn’t flush. And at the breakfast buffet (which was just okay) my wife couldn’t come down so I tried to make her a to go box and they charged me another buffet. I am disappointed in the DoubleTree brand because I’ve stayed at many and was a previous diamond member.
