"Good stay, good service…and a hot tub!"

I really liked the hotel and lobby has lots of charm and character. It was a great choice for our stay! Everyone was so friendly, and I appreciated the Diamond status recognition (and those warm cookies!). I’m a big HiltonHonors fan, and the DoubleTree brand is always a solid travel pick and it’s just nice to receive an inviting and friendly welcome. The hotel is big! Like a maze. I looked it up and there are 347 guest rooms covering 5 floors & 12,000+ square feetMeeting/event space. We stayed in Room 540, and while the hallway had a bit of a smoke smell, the rooms are nonsmoking, so not sure what that was about. Minor details, wear and dust, but still 5 stars based on amenities and service. I only found one Ice machine working too on 4 of the floors. Helpful tip: Door 3 is closest to the elevators when entering from the parking lot! Another guest shared that with me and it saved some walking! No real issues during the stay other than the ice machine and would absolutely stay here again. We chose this location to be close to The Henry Ford Museum of American Innovation but a solid choice if you want to stay outside of Downtown Detroit.

"Avoid at all costs! Bug infestations and broken security"
TripAdvisor user rating 1 out of 5
Reviewed October 10, 2025 NEW
The lobby is deceptively nice, but the rooms are dirty, not properly restocked with supplies, broken toilets and door locks. The carpeting was dirty, rooms smelled bad. Just bad news. We had three rooms, and all were equally bad. At least one of the travelers encountered bed bugs. The thermostat in one room was not functional. The door latch receiver was removed, so the door latch just caught on the door frame opening. I'm guessing that this facility was owned by a chain until the maintenance costs became unsustainable, then it was sold to a family-based organization that did not have the capital to maintain it. So they survive by charging $25 for breakfast, booking in groups of out of town travelers for "conventions", employing family members and saving costs in every other way possible, and by being close to attractions. There are plenty of nicer places nearby, use them. I'll never stay here again. And don't get me wrong, the staff was friendly, but there is nothing backing them up. Go elsewhere.

"134th AHC Reunion"
TripAdvisor user rating 5 out of 5
Reviewed October 01, 2025
My husband and I hosted a Vietnam Veterans Reunion, 134th AHC, in September, and we couldn’t have asked for a better hotel to stay in. Our group stayed here from September 10th to 14th. The front desk staff were always very friendly and welcoming, and they were accommodating of our guests' requests for assistance, whether it was contacting housekeeping or arranging transportation. Mimi Sion was great to work with. She went above and beyond in helping us host a successful reunion. She made it a point to check in with us throughout the day to see if there was anything we needed and how things were going. She doesn’t know the word NO. Mimi always answered with “We can do that!” She truly is an asset to this hotel. It was mainly due to her outstanding customer service and hospitality that this reunion was a success. I must say, Abdul Mustak, Banquet Manager, provided exceptional service by keeping our hospitality room attended to and adhering to the banquet room floor plan. Ensuring the banquet room was set up to accommodate the Rolling Thunder presentation of the Missing Man Table. Making sure the U.S. flag and wreath were positioned just right. I received many comments about the food, its beautiful presentation, and the service being spot on. The salad was fresh and crisp, the pasta was al dente, the beef was very tender, and the chicken was also flavorful. The assortment of desserts was a big hit. Everyone enjoyed the daily rotating hot breakfast choices. Thank you to all who kept the trays full at all times. It was a busy time, with all of us and the other patrons. And it’s not every day you see an executive chef, dressed in his chef’s whites, pushing a hotel's luggage cart, helping a guest get to their room. THANK YOU, Chief Andre! Your kindness was much appreciated. And the banquet dinner was outstanding. Right down to the two children's plates and the food restrictions plate. If you find yourself needing a hotel that caters to all your needs, I highly recommend the DoubleTree Detroit - Dearborn for any special event. Thank you all for all you do. We couldn't have done this without everyone's help!
