"Expensive, but nice conference venue"
TripAdvisor user rating 4.0 out of 5
Reviewed September 07, 2025 NEW
The Marriott was a really nice hotel for a conference—very big. I arrived very early, around 10 a.m. and was pleased that a room was ready for me so early. I was even more pleasantly surprised when I was upgraded to a huge suite on the 64th floor with city and river views. There were a few cons to the big, fancy suite—the bed was a murphy bed, and there weren’t any lights near it—I couldn’t lay in bed and read before going to sleep as I usually do. There also weren’t many outlets in the room. There wasn’t a traditional desk, just a huge round table in the middle of the room, so there wasn’t anywhere I could plug in my computer. Also, the TV was in kind of an awkward spot—you couldn’t see it well from the bed, but couldn’t see it at all from the couch. Finally, the bed was hard as a rock—I almost moved over to the couch. This was very unusual for a Marriott hotel—they usually have fantastic beds/mattresses. The conference meals were generally very good. The hotel bar, however, was crazy expensive—it was $9 for one High Noon can. But overall, it was a great place to hold a conference.

"The LaCorsica Experience"
TripAdvisor user rating 5.0 out of 5
Reviewed August 06, 2025
I flew to Detroit from Washington DC to attend a funeral. The hotel was heavily booked because there were several family reunions in progress. Fortunately for me, I was ended up being waited on by LaCorsica. She went way beyond the call of duty to find me the best room available. She was extremely professional and courteous. Most importantly, she was competent. It was a trying weekend for me-but the excellent service provided by LaCorsica really went a long ways towards making my stay in Detroit special. I hope Marriott recognizes the gem they have in her-and I would like to compliment the entire front desk and Marriott staff for their hospitality.

"TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE BAD ATTITUDES"
TripAdvisor user rating 1.0 out of 5
Reviewed July 23, 2025
Being a Ambassador Elite member and staying at a 5star Hotel, the Lady at the Front desk & Mgr. COLETTE WAS ABSOLUTELY THE WORST EXPERIENCE Iv EVER had at a Marriott, i arrived on July16th at 245p.m and The attitudes, the posture, no smiles, and not even a Hello Good Afternoon, was not what Im use to staying at a Marriott, you Lead by example and The Mgr Colette did not execute that, and if I was treated poorly Imagine someone who isn't a member. And all i did was ask for a early checkin, And was told by Marriott Ambassador team that it was ok, and when I arrive the lady at the front desk and COLETTE said she talked with Marriott and she said No she couldn't accommodate me. Moral of the story is even if that was true, there was absolutely no reason to be rude and argumentative with me, I had to tell here I was going to call Marriott back which I did and whatever was said I was able to checkin.. COLETTE YOU NEED Management's CUSTOMER SERVICE TRAINING so you can fully understand have to Lead and take control of a situation and learn how to speak to individuals, Its not your Way its Marriotts way and for the record I have gotten Better customer service from a Fairfield inn, Do Better Smiles goes a very Long way

"Grand Prix fun!"
TripAdvisor user rating 5.0 out of 5
Reviewed June 04, 2025
We were there for the Grand Prix this past weekend. We came in super late Friday and many roads were blocked so it was a bear to get into the right lot because roads were blocked for races. ( totally get it). The woman that helped guide us into the right lot and street was fantastic and super kind. I cannot remember her name. It was late… she was awesome! The service was super fast and nice once we got there. The building is amazing. Wow! Beautiful!🤩 When we left we had Jeffrey and Ken help us in the valet. Super nice and helpful! Detroit proved its weight in Gold with the kindness of strangers throughout the weekend! We will be back next year!!

"Solid stay for a big event."
TripAdvisor user rating 5.0 out of 5
Reviewed June 01, 2025
We were very happy with our stay. We stayed on points for the Grand Prix. The hotel is perfectly situated for that event but the downside is many blocked streets. The hotel tried hard to help guests navigate. The only thing they missed was to send a pin for mapping where to navigate for check in. Was happy they offered us late check out and a free breakfast for our status. The walls are a bit thin but not horrible. Also liked that housekeeping defaults to on here.
