Just got back from a 2 night stay there using rewards points. Would never recommend this place, which felt like a deserted hotel from a horror movie. The negatives: carpet was sticky and filthy, window was filthy, no clock in room, no fan in bathroom, no water in room, hallway smelled like a combo of mildew/urine/fish, elevator kept getting stuck and going up and down between floors, the neighborhood was dangerous, the room was super noisy at all hours of the day and night, the self-parking was unmonitored and pricey. The positive - the bed was mildly comfortable.

I’d booked a 5 night stay but due to flight delays, missed the first night thanks to Delta diverting me for an overnight in Augusta. On arrival, advised room not ready, impossible I said as I was due 24 hours earlier. BTW, I had emailed the hotel to advise of my travel delay but they didn’t acknowledge or reply to it. Eventually got to room which was fairly clean but dated. However, the lobby looks ok, but the Crowne Plaza sign behind the desk is broken and missing pieces. The main area carpet is worn and is a trip hazard due to it not being level. The bar opens at 4pm and seems close as early as it can, same for the coffee shop, seems to close by 10am? Reception are not the best or most helpful unless you get one of the two ladies, unable to provide me a printed copy of my bill for checking and the promised email copy never arrived. Buffet breakfast is adequate but allowed no extras (omelette was an extra charge!) and they need to change to the music as it’s the same music 24/7. Requested housekeeping three times and got it once. Towels replaced, new coffee provided but no cups or additives such as creamer and sugar. I’m a long standing IHG Rewards member and when I requested a later check-out was advised it was $25 per extra hour after 12 noon. Not going to happen according to my status and this was grudgingly granted without charge. All in all, it was an experience and one that I’d not like to repeat as I felt you had to be on your guard at all times due the reception staff seemingly, couldn’t care, attitude. Location is good, just 100 yards from MARTA North Avenue station. Next time I’m in Atlanta, will probably book an Indigo.

"Worst Crowne Plaza ever!"

I am writing to provide feedback following our recent stay at the Crowne Plaza Atlanta Midtown for a Family Reunion, which took place July 17–20, 2025. Our group consisted of approximately 100 members, and we encountered several challenges during our visit that I wish to highlight below to support future improvements. • Arrival Experience: Upon arrival, there were significant difficulties locating our group code at check-in. This resulted in extended wait times for our guests, as well as other visitors, due to only two staff members assisting at peak times. Guests were advised to complete check-in and resolve related issues at checkout, which was not ideal. • Room Conditions: The guest room (1702) featured dated carpet and upholstery, and did not appear thoroughly cleaned, with a persistent musty odor present. Maintenance concerns included a slow-draining bathtub, malfunctioning bathroom doors, and a closet door in disrepair. These issues were reported to the front desk and assurances were made regarding prompt maintenance, but no action was taken throughout our three-night stay. Additionally, other family members required room changes due to leaks and further structural problems. • Safety Concerns: Several safety issues were observed in both our room and common areas. The bathtubs lacked adequate handrails and anti-slip protection, presenting a hazard. My 79-year-old brother and young relatives experienced distress when stairwell doors were found locked from the inside, preventing exit on lower floors. This situation required assistance from lobby personnel and led to medical attention being needed for my brother. While hotel staff explained these measures were for security, they do not address emergency egress requirements or adhere to safety regulations. Similar incidents were reported by other guests, and responses from management appeared insufficient. During our Gala/Banquet event on the 25th floor, the HVAC system was found to be inoperative, resulting in uncomfortable temperatures for over 100 attendees. Temporary cooling equipment provided minimal relief, especially for those seated away from the dance floor, and many guests expressed discomfort consistent with heat-related symptoms. • Policy Inconsistencies: There were discrepancies in parking fees ($50/day vs $38/day) and confusion regarding complimentary breakfast inclusion in the group rate. Some guests received varying combinations of benefits, while others, including myself, did not. Full clarification was only possible after speaking with Ms. Nikita at checkout, highlighting inconsistencies in policy administration for group bookings. • Checkout Experience: On July 20, the checkout process was significantly delayed due to limited staffing. Only two agents were available, leading to long queues extending through the valet area. Automatic deactivation of key cards at 10:15 am resulted in access issues, particularly given elevator malfunctions and existing stairwell concerns. My 96-year-old mother became temporarily locked in her room until a security guard intervened, which was distressing. In addition, elevator outages created further delays as cleaning staff shared the remaining elevators with guests. Valet was also extremely slow to retrieve cars. • Positive Staff Experience: Despite numerous challenges, I would like to commend the manager, Ms. Nikita, who was proactive, knowledgeable, patient, and understanding. She addressed outstanding matters concerning parking and breakfast policies clearly and professionally, and her assistance helped alleviate some of the frustrations experienced during our stay. • Requests for Resolution: • I respectfully request a refund for each room rate associated with our Family Reunion group code: RUR. • I also ask for confirmation that all noted safety, maintenance, and staffing issues have been addressed and resolved. Thank you for your attention to these matters. I hope this feedback will support meaningful improvement in guest experience moving forward.

"Shut it down!"
TripAdvisor user rating 1.0 out of 5
Reviewed July 21, 2025
This place needs to be shut down! We drove into ATL from East TN and when we got there just a few minutes after check in time, they had no rooms ready and told us it would be an hour or 2. Check in was at 4pm and we had to leave for a show at 6 and we had our daughter and 2 small dogs with us. To make it worse, everyone who was checking in at 4pm that day, they told the same thing to. The person behind the desk was constantly smoking a pot-vape (the entire afternoon and evening) and although I am pro wacky weed, it is NOT cool to have your lobby filled with pot smoke when there are people that may have allergies, children, pets, all there having to inhale that pot vape smoke. It just gets worse - We got the king suite they offered because it had a pull out couch for our daughter. When we finally get to the room, there were no bed clothes for the couch-bed. We called the front desk, no one EVER answered, like ever. So, we go down to the lobby from the 15th floor and, again waited in line in the lobby full of pot smoke only to be told, "sorry, we don't have anymore bed clothes." Seriously? I thought they were joking but they 100% were not joking. Yeah, not ok, not at all. I could go on but I digress. Just stay far, far away from this terrible place. You'll thank me later!

"Absolutely worst hotel stay ever!!!"
TripAdvisor user rating 1.0 out of 5
Reviewed July 20, 2025
I wish I had read the reviews of the hotel before I stayed there! Unfortunately I went with price and the former reputation of Crowne Plaza hotels. Other reviewers noted how warm the lobby was and the long lines to check in. I did not have that experience but I arrived late at night. The carpets in the hotel are at least 15 years old, worn, fraying and smelly. Our toilet had a pink ring around the water which means it hadn't been cleaned in a while (the ring is air borne bacteria). I had to request toilet paper and clean towels. We ate breakfast in the restaurant the first day and it was ok. But my daughter became ill while we were there and I went down and got a continental breakfast to take upstairs. There was a bagel with white furry mold on it in the container and it was moldy because it had a pat of butter in it!! Gross! We ended up checking out early because we were there to go to Market at Americasmart and she didn't feel well enough to go. I valet parked my car for the 4 days we were there and took Uber rides back and forth to Market. I didn't notice until we got home that my 2024 Jeep Grand Cherokee had a pretty good sized dent up high on the left side of the hood with white scrapes under it and the fiberglass piece under the headlight is popped out which means the valet who parked it hit a wall. My advice is DO NOT STAY AT THIS HOTEL!!! Lesson learned for me!
