"Worst Hotel Experience—Room Heating Problem and Lack of Customer Service or Resolution"
TripAdvisor user rating 1.0 out of 5
Reviewed February 21, 2026
The heating system in my room was not working properly. As I shivered under the sheet and thin bedspread (no blanket of any kind) on my first night, the room got colder and colder. I finally went down to the reception desk at 5:30 AM to ask why there was no heat. The young man at the reception desk just looked at me blankly. He didn't even offer to change my room. He said nothing at all. A guest who was checking out helped me. She told me to tap the thermostat. It seemed odd that the system was not on when I arrived earlier in the evening. The temperature was set at 72° yet the ambient temperature of the room was only 65°. On the second night, the system vacillated between heating and air conditioning every few minutes all night long. For about two minutes, the unit would blow warm air. It would shut off for about two minutes, and then it would blow ice cold air. I would feel a cold wind blowing over me every few minutes throughout the night. The temperature in the room went up and down like a yo-yo. I barely got any sleep either night. When I addressed the issue with the front desk manager at checkout, she apologized and said she would talk to the General Manager about a refund or some type of compensation for the problem. The shuttle driver overheard my story and agreed that the management needed to do something to make it right. The front desk manager called me an hour later and said her GM would not be doing anything for me. The attitude seemed to be, "We got your money, so tough luck." Ignoring a customer complaint of that magnitude is not a way to endear a customer to your hotel. It exacerbates the problem. As a travel industry professional for 43 years, I have never had such a poor experience at a hotel, and I have traveled the world. The absolute lack of customer service and unwillingness to address the problem was appalling. The front desk staff at the hotel all need customer service training. None had any real customer service skills, especially the young man working the overnight shift on Tuesday, 10 February. He had no communication or customer service skills whatsoever. As a travel industry professional for the past 43 years, I can say my stay at the Country Inn and Suites was one of the worst hotel experiences I have ever had.

"Understaffed Zoo"

The front desk staff did a great job despite being overwhelmed with people checking in, people calling, arranging shuttle rides and an obnoxious maintenance worker rudely interrupting him when he could finally check us in. He needed help and I hate when I see this kind of staffing. They are lucky he managed it all though it probably took 25 minutes to get checked in. The room was clean, but the beds were uncomfortable. Breakfast was a zoo, with all the hot buffet items out except for dried out sausage. We waited and then asked about food being restocked without any answer. Tables were overflowing with dirty dishes everywhere. We finally gave up. I would not stay again.

"They’re lucky they are getting a 2."

They don’t deserve any stars for this at all but giving 2 as the front desk did try, but had zero power to make it right and no On-Call manager to assist in making it right. So first off room was clean and tidy, but upon full inspection after we had started to settle in found it was missing one panel of the privacy curtain So we then get moved to another room of same type and guess what… it’s missing the opposite side panel…. While it may not be a big deal to some since we could still close the blackout curtains, the fact that 2 rooms had the same issue shows the maintenance/cleaning staff think it’s OK to leave a room without parts that make it whole. Front desk could not ‘upgrade’ us even with our Choice status level without the non-existent manager only option was to downgrade and the downgraded rooms from what I can see as are much smaller apparently had been taken to clean never brought back, we asked if they could bring one up, and I would install it myself as it only snaps into place which they said that neither option could be done. I wanted to try somewhere we hadn’t and the reviews were favorable, it s going to take a miracle for me to want to even consider this property again. 2 stars Only for front desk trying. Zero stars for the property and management not giving night folks power to make things right.

"Don't expect to speak to someone trained in customer service"
TripAdvisor user rating 1.0 out of 5

We stayed at the hotel while travelling over the holidays. My wife left her glasses in the room. She did not realize this until we had reached our next destination. She called the hotel and they confirmed they had the glasses. She asked if she could arrange for, and pay for, a courier to have them sent to her. They said no. She asked if she could speak to a manager. The clerk took her number and promised a call back. It never happened. When we got home we called the international customer service. They took down all the information and told us to follow up in a couple of weeks. We did. The follow up was greeted with "we haven't received a response from the hotel call back later." Up the food chain to a supervisor. The supervisor explained that their hands were tied. It was entirely up to the individual hotels to look after customers. I told her I was hearing "suck it up and forget the glasses." She told me these were not the words she would use, but there was nothing she could do about it. I've never experienced such poor customer service, at the local level, especially not at the corporate level. Stay clear, and definitely don't expect to speak to someone trained in customer service.

"Pleasantly Surprised"

We have not really stayed at Radisson hotels but now it is our favorite. Our shuttle driver to begin with was amazing, personable, and friendly. Then when we entered, a latte/cappuccino machine, a selection of teas, and Seattles best coffee greeted us on this very cold day. Sitting area with a lovely Christmas tree made this lobby feel like home. At check in, the staff was so wonderful. The rooms were clean and spacious. The breakfast was extra delicious, way above average, allowing the kitchen to remain open until 10:30 am. I appreciated that immensely. The eggs were real, not boxed imitation eggs. The potatoes and other items had great flavors and the workers in the kitchen were friendly. The best is being able to check out at noon.
