Country Inn & Suites by Radisson Asheville River Arts District

I was very fortunate to be able stay here after the hurricane, compliments of FEMA. After being at another ("fancier") hotel in the area, where the level of care and respect was subpar, this place has been a true godsend. The staff is amazing,, led by a GM who goes above and beyond in her demonstration of care for people. The culture is caring, welcoming and down to earth, which is an obvious example of her leadership. The hotel is in a great part of town, conveniently located right next to a health food supermarket, a Brazilian steak house and an Italian restaurant and less than 5 minutes to downtown. The fact that pets are allowed is great and they do their best to make sure that the hotel is well taken care of. The entranceway is gorgeous with very high ceilings, it feels very inviting and was well designed. There is an open breakfast area, a cozy nook for extra living space, also an indoor heated swimming pool and a fire pit outside in the courtyard. Again, the staff is great and overall this has been a true Ashevillian experience. Thank you to Cerena, La Sheba and all the staff that have made this a wonderful experience for us. We are very grateful.

Everyone has been superb, from the manager to the maid service and throughout. I have stayed a many hotels, but the staff here is a credit to Alex Fraga’s group.

This is our third and final visit to this hotel. The facility needs repairs. The shower was missing a shelf, the shower floor was filthy, the white sheets were pilling with black fabric, and the bottom drawer of the dresser wouldn't close. The room had a moldy smell, and the hallways reeked of cigarettes. Breakfast offerings are good, and the staff is friendly.

We were booked for a 4-night stay at this Country Inn and Suites. Our nightmare began the second we walked into our room – it was an 85-degree sauna! Tried everything – turning down the thermostat, turning on the AC, etc. but the unit continued to blast hot air. Immediately reported this to the Desk Clerk and asked for a new room. None available. “So now what?” I ask. Clerk was now unhappy that I was actually expecting her to do something so she proceeded to treat me as if I was an idiot who can’t operate a thermostat, then as a liar. She finally agreed to come up to the room and lo and behold! The heater was indeed broken! Asked if she could call maintenance. Nope. Asked to speak to a manager. Nope, have to wait until tomorrow morning. Asked what we were supposed to do now as the room was uninhabitable and it was 9 pm at night. She actually said, “Well you can call other hotels and see if they have a room,” and then left! Did not offer any help at all – did not try to call the other Country Inns in the area (Hilton did this for us when they overbooked), did not give a phone number for corporate/customer service, did not even give us a lousy recommendation on what hotels we should call. Just left. We spent 2 hours of going back and forth with Choice Hotels customer service, who then had to call the World’s Laziest Desk Clerk to verify our story. In the middle of all this, Clerk actually had the nerve to call our room and ask when we were leaving! So now you want us to sit out in the cold trying to find a room because YOU screwed up? Nope. Customer service finally got us a new booking and we moved on – it was now 11 pm and we were exhausted and frustrated. Called this Country Inn 2 days later and asked to speak with a manager. Got nothing but excuses and a weak apology. So beware my fellow travelers, if you book this Country Inn and anything goes wrong – THEY DO NOT CARE - YOU ARE OWN YOUR OWN.

I would love to thank the staff here at the country Inn &Suites my stay here is due to hurricane Helene and I couldn’t thank them enough! It is the best here and number one in Asheville NC
