"Excellent but no WOW"

First stay at Bellagio: Nice, but no Wow. And evaluations based on problem-responses. I've played there before, including earlier this year when staying at Vdara. Everything was nice. But Bellagio shows its age. Not in wear and tear, but a slightly dated feel compared to other luxury Strip properties such as Aria, Wynn/Encore or Venetian/Palazzo. Smallest rooms of the group. And I'd guess the longest time since a major room décor update. My early check-in was accommodated.. nice for 10am. I was offered to take what was available or wait for a higher floor or pool view. I asked “is it a view of a wall or parking lot?” was told no, 11th floor, and so chose not to wait. However, view was mostly obstructed by another Bellagio building. Bed was hard and creaked when I tried it. I called guest services and asked to be moved. Rachel in guest services was very friendly and helpful. Could move me higher now – a room that had just become available. Or a guest had just checked out of a pool view room… if I could wait, it should be ready by one. I told her to put me in whichever she'd prefer; she chose the pool view, and advised me “if they don't call you by 1pm, you call us.” Very friendly and helpful. Walking through the lobby at 1pm, hadn't heard, so I stopped at front desk, told them situation. Helpful and polite, I was given keys to new room and a blank card that was supposed to open original room where my luggage remained. Except.. that didn’t open old room.. the key to the new room opened old room. Security happened by; they were very helpful, stayed with me, arranged to meet me at new room. Key to new room worked.. it worked on both doors, which seemed odd and a little disconcerting that a key card could open two doors. New room was better view, and although all rooms reportedly same size… it was much larger. In response to questions, Rachel had told me “none of the rooms is recently renovated, we'll start renovations in December. If you have a problem with the mattress, call and it will be replaced.” Room was very clean, well maintained. The security lock on my door was broken. The bedside phone didn’t work (desk phone was fine) I reported both. Door lock was repaired that day. Never checked the phone. Room was very clean. Housekeeping did an excellent job first night, but there were odd, unfinished efforts night two. It looked as if the housekeeper was interrupted and never came back. Bed was made, but one pillow was on the bench at the foot of the bed. The shower mat was propped on end in a corner of the bathroom. The towel rack had hand towels replaced, but no new bath towels. Casino staff, Mlife staff, very polite and helpful. Sardelles (2nd visit - reviewed in March) was excellent, waiter was great, friendly etc. Food and staff excellent at FIX; see separate review. Bell stand staff members were very helpful upon storing luggage and departure. Stopped at MLife prior to checkout to clear up use of Express Comps on room-charged meals. MLife attendant was polite but not particularly warm or friendly. I heard her phone in very precise, clear instructions to apply comps to one specific restaurant charge on my folio. She told me I could just leave; the balance would be charged to credit card on file. (Had enough comps for room charges, but I save those for meals and services. ) An hour later… my MLife app showed seriously depleted comp balance. Despite specific instructions, they goofed in processing checkout. I stopped at Front Desk and got a very friendly helpful registration staffer. I wanted my comps back, and my credit card charged for the room/resort fees. Staffer wasn’t sure how to accomplish that… but made an effort. I jokingly suggested “or, instead of charging my credit card for the resort fees, you can just waive them”. He looked at me, smiled, and said “Let me see what I can do” and walked over the manager posted at a podium stand behind the check-in counters. I watched as my staffer explained, a third person joined them, and the manager started scowling and dramatically shaking his head indicating “no!” Then, my staffer was sent away, left the floor, and a minute later, the manager approached me. When directly in front of me, tge manager was polite, even smiled a bit. Explained they could address my concern, restore the comps, charge my card. But couldn't waive the resort fees. I understand that - I'd only suggested it in a joking manner. But, it felt odd. Perhaps the manager didn’t realize. I'd seen the entire interaction with the original front desk representative. The scolding, dramatic head shake, sending him off the floor; they shouldn't behave in that manner in a very public setting only a few feet back from the front desk counter. The disparity between what I saw from 20 feet away vs. his behavior when immediately before me made me feel like the manager was probably fake-nice to guests, but not very nice to employees. For the record, the issue was resolved as promised an hour later. Overall, I enjoyed Bellagio. In my opinion, best geographic location on Strip. Prefer the pool areas to other properties. Self-parking doesn’t feel like it’s a mile away. But Aria feels newer, as it is. So does Wynn. Even though I prefer guest rooms at other properties, I might choose Bellagio based on location next time. Hope there's a renovation planned that can add some of the more modern attributes to maintain its luxury position on the Strip. Usb ports throughout guestroom. Tablets for controls, info, reservations and orders. Pillow top mattresses. Modern bathroom fixtures. I visit Vegas 3-4 times a year.

My wife and I enjoyed our stay at the Bellagio so much the last time, that we decided to come back to celebrate our 31st anniversary! The room had a wonderful view as always, and the standards for quality service and hospitality is up to our expectations. Employees such as Mark and Robert, the bartenders, and Leticia, the buffet server greeted us kindly with enthusiasm. We also had the pleasure of meeting Blake, a Hotel front desk clerk, a very professional and pleasant to deal with. Overall, the Bellagio is definitely worth the stay for its beautiful views, rooms, great food and superb quality service. Thank you Bellagio for making our stay so very special.

Overall the facility is gorgeous and location in the middle of the Strip is really convenient. We were given a handicap room as it was all that was ready when we checked in about 11:30am. Room 7063. The bed was very old and way too soft. Needs to Be replaced. Dinner buffet was plentiful with king crab legs that was hard to get all the meat out of. Prime rib was delish. Great desserts.
