My experience at this hotel was absolutely unacceptable. I would never recommend this location to anyone. In fact, I would immediately direct anyone to stay at the competitor just down the road. Let me start with the only positives: the bed was clean and comfortable, and the floors were also clean. That’s it. Everything else was a disaster. From the moment we arrived, the service was dismissive and unprofessional. We were greeted by a rude front desk woman who couldn’t even be bothered to pronounce my name correctly—even after I clearly said it. She offered information that was irrelevant to a multi-night stay and made it clear we were a burden. The room was large but severely under-furnished. Decorative paintings were stained with long streaks, lamp shades were filthy, and the couches looked like they were rescued from a curbside trash pile. Cables for the TV and fridge dangled dangerously due to poor outlet placement, and the window had a broken rod hanging from the outside. To top it off, the TV didn’t even work. When we brought this to the staff’s attention, we were promised a 10% discount. But instead of offering to fix the issue—like sending maintenance or providing a working TV—we were brushed off. Then we checked out the pool, which was one of the main reasons we chose this hotel. It was absolutely disgusting: floating trash, leaves, paper, plastic lids, gloves—you name it. The filters were clogged and clearly hadn’t been cleaned in days. When we complained, we were told the pool was “supposed to be closed.” In late April. In the South. That’s unacceptable and deceitful, especially considering the pool was advertised. The manager didn’t even know the pool was open, let alone in such a filthy state. And when we asked for a larger discount due to this major issue, we were told to contact his boss. It is not my job to chase down your management. While this was happening, we saw a family walking toward the pool, towels in hand. Clearly, they had no idea it was “closed” either. Back in the room, things got worse. The desk chair was torn and broken, and then the bathroom ceiling started leaking heavily. We were moved to Room 401. That room had more furniture—strange, since it was supposed to be the same type—but the lights didn’t work, and the AC made a horrible clanking noise because its housing was loose. We called the front desk repeatedly. No one answered. I had to go down in person and demand either a full refund or an immediate upgrade. We were finally moved to Room 405. While most things in this room worked, the shower was peeling so badly it felt unsafe to stand in, and the AC housing on the balcony was broken and leaning against the wall. We double-checked that the railing was bolted down—because by this point, nothing would surprise us. From the balcony, we saw kids using the pool skimmer to fish turtles out of the lake. The same dirty equipment used in the pool. Disgusting. The hallways looked like a rushed paint job with splotches everywhere. The “Baymont” sign on the building was damaged and broken—something we now recognize as the first red flag. At checkout, I overheard another guest upset that the advertised restaurant was closed—another key amenity falsely promoted. When we finally got our bill, we expected the 10% discount. Instead, a 10% charge was added. After calling the hotel, a staff member admitted that the manager had incorrectly added the discount as a charge. She promised we’d be refunded both that charge and the original 10%. But frankly, we should have been reimbursed far more—if not the entire cost of this mess. This experience was not just inconvenient—it was outrageous. I will never stay at another Wyndham property again. I will give my business to Hilton from now on, and I will make sure others know to do the same.

Good mattress and nice selection of pillows. The pool wasn’t open yet and it was too cold and rainy anyway. Driveway is like a ski jump and is a bit hard to see, but you’ll figure it out. Great breakfast and considerate staff. Nice place and you should consider it. Recommended!

Really inept customer service- especially for being in the service industry. I had an issue with the hotel. The front staff could not help so they turned me over to Aprita who did not even take the time to look up the reservation or problem solve. When I asked to speak to the owner, she lied and said she was the owner. When I called her out, she said that the owner was not there and to call back later. When I asked when he would be there, she said he’s occasionally there but refused to give any specifics. I asked for the owners name or info which she refused to provide. When I asked if she could give him my name, she would not. All around incredibly unprofessional. She had no intention of helping or trying to solve the problem.

Hotel staff was accommodating, breakfast was very nice, and a stopped-up sink was fixed same day. I would like to pay less, but the hotel is convenient to do what we wanted to do, and I’d recommend it highly. We went shopping on Central, had the Traditional Baths, went to the casino and the horse races, and ate at the wonderful Fisherman’s Wharf (twice!).e loved this trip!
