"No house keeping."

We have just returned from a six night stay at the Savoy whilst visiting family in Kansas City. Mixed feelings about this hotel to be honest. Lovely old building with lots of history and a beautiful restaurant/bar. The staff were all friendly and seemed helpful, particularly the bar staff who were happy to chat and give tips on great places to visit in KC. The reason for only giving two stars are: 1: Bar opening times. It closes after breakfast and does not open again until 5.30pm. This means after walking around KC all day, if you return to the hotel, you are unable to grab a drink or something to eat. The bar is literally closed and in darkness. It was a real shame as after a long day sight seeing/shopping etc, there is no option or anywhere within the hotel to sit up in the bar or lounge and grab a glass of wine, beer, coffee etc.. really strange, considering it’s listed as a four star hotel and the stunning room the bar is situated in, we were looking forward to heading back to the hotel early during the afternoons for a drink and to relax before going out again before dinner, but this was not an option. 2: There was zero house keeping. We arrived late on our first night, 11pm. There was a coffee machine (Nespresso) in the room with two coffee pods and two milk pods, there was no bottled water provided at all. House keeping did not come at all during our six nights. We used the coffee pods on the first morning, and although we saw house keeping in the corridor, when we returned to our room on day one, they had not been in. I had to go down to reception to ask for toilet rolls and coffee pods, which were brought up to us, but house keeping never returned. On the third day, I mentioned to reception that House Keeping had not been into our room, and reception informed me they would send them on this day. When we returned to our room, housekeeping had been in and made the bed - they had not changed any sheets, only made the bed with the existing sheets and re plumped the pillows. They did no provide any more coffee pods, nor milk, and again, no water. They also did not clear any empty cups or glasses from our room. During the six nights we were there, the dirty coffee cups from the first morning remained in our room the entire time, along with various cocktail and wine glasses which we had taken up from the bar (when it was finally opened) after an evening out or after 5.30pm when we went upstairs to get ready for the evening. The hotel does offer complimentary coffee in the lobby downstairs in takeaway cups, which I would go down stairs and help myself to each morning, however, the empty cups would remain in our bedroom for the entire stay due to the lack of house keeping. Not something we would expect from a four star hotel. We will return to KC as we have family there, however we would not stay at the Savoy again.

"The Savoy Hotel - An Historic Gem Worthy of a Stay"
TripAdvisor user rating 4.0 out of 5

We thoroughly enjoyed our two-night stay at the Savoy Hotel, part of the Hilton Tapestry Collection. We arrived mid-afternoon and were warmly welcomed by the front desk clerk, Sanaiya, whose pleasant demeanor, helpfulness, and focus on enhancing our stay were truly appreciated. As Hilton Diamond Members, we were upgraded to a King Suite on the sixth floor. The two-room suite was spacious, well appointed, and very comfortable. A particularly thoughtful design feature was the frosted lower windows overlooking the hotel’s open courtyard. Once you see the courtyard, it’s clear why this choice works so well—allowing in natural light while providing privacy without sacrificing an appealing view. The lobby, along with the rest of the hotel, is scheduled for renovation in the near future. While these updates will undoubtedly elevate the property even further, the hotel already feels well maintained and far from dated, especially in the guest rooms and hallways. The fitness center is another standout feature. Although it lacked the Peloton bikes found in some other Hilton properties, the space is modern, well designed, and equipped with high-quality equipment. Having the Savoy Grill located within the hotel is an added bonus. We were extremely impressed by the food, service, and décor of this historic restaurant. For more details, see my separate review in the restaurant section. Overall, I would highly recommend the Savoy Hotel, Hilton Tapestry Collection, for your next stay in Kansas City, Missouri. I look forward to returning and seeing the results of the upcoming renovations.
