Deep in the heart of the Smoky Mountains, this chic barn-style craft distillery features excellent live music, flavorful Sugarlands potions, and a behind-the-scenes tour of the Sugarlands stillhouse. Architects made the 150-year-old structure from reclaimed salvaged wood from East Tennessee barns.

Since 2014 Sugarlands brewers have been brewing their authentic moonshine, rum, cream liqueurs, and rye whiskey. Stop in for a taste, then shop for Sugarlands moonshine, mountain merchandise, canned cream drinks, apparel, and gifts in the Sugarlands Store.

Sugarlands Distilling Company Backstory

Best friends and moonshine partners Mark Ramsey and Erick “Digger” Manes first starred on the Discovery Channel shows Moonshiners and Master Distiller in 2011 and opened the Sugarlands Distilling Company in Gatlinburg in March of 2014. Digger has starred in 114 episodes alongside co-star Mark Ramsay.

Ramsey, an East Tennessee native, discovered the moonshine trade at the wee age of 8 and then learned the craft through hands-on experience. At the same time, partner Digger Manes is a legend in his own right. Manes, too learned the craft at a young age.

Sugarlands Distilling Company Tours & Workshops

Enjoy a guided tour that is hailed the #1 Distillery Experience in the U.S. Catch a behind-the-scenes glimpse of the distilling process, taste test new flavors, shop for some fun gifts and hear a live band-all at Sugarlands!

The distillery offers free tours regularly. Tours include a full seasonal sampling where visitors can taste the latest award-winning house spirits. In addition to the free tours, Sugarlands offers premium tours for $15, including a 30-minute tour, moonshine mixing class, and blending samples class.

An expert Tastemaker leads the tours and tasting experiences with cocktail ideas and tasting notes through three sipping stations. The tasting fee to sample spirits is $5 to try 12 flavors. The fee also includes another $5 voucher redeemable with any in-store purchase.

Blended Cocktail Tour

This 30-minute private tour of the stillhouse costs $12 per person. You’ll also get to try two handcrafted cocktails made by an expert Tastemaker.

Meet the Distiller Workshop (This tour is currently unavailable due to COVID-19 restrictions)

This private tour showcases a backside glimpse of Sugarlands expert distillers. Guests can learn how to make distilled spirits, and each participating member can fill their own jar of moonshine to take home.

Distiller for the Day Workshop (This tour is currently unavailable due to COVID-19 restrictions)

Sugarlands invites patrons to spend the day with Sugarlands Head Distiller and participate in making a batch of moonshine. Members can grind the corn, mix mash, and proof the distillate. Lunch is also included, and guests can take home a mason jar of their own brew. The cost of this workshop is $250 per person.
