Angel's Share in New York City

Angel's Share is a speakeasy-style bar in Manhattan's East Village that offers exotic cocktails and Japanese cuisine. One of New York's best speakeasies, the 20 plus-year-old establishment close to the Astor Place Theater, is a must-stop destination.

If you're looking for a Japanese cocktail lounge with great atmosphere and affordable drinks, try Angel's Share. Part of Angel's Share's appeal is its mysterious hard to find location. As you head to East Village, 8 Stuyvesant Street, go to the 2nd floor, through the Japanese restaurant Village Yokocho and find an unmarked door, which opens into Angel's Share's secret world.

Now with an additional outdoor dining area on the street, the bar/restaurant is a little easier to find. With sparkling cocktails by master bartenderTakuma Watanabe, there is something for everyone.

If you're in the mood for whiskey, you've come to the right place, as Angel's Share provides an extensive list of high-quality brands. The bar's name hails from the distillery process where a small amount of whiskey evaporates through the wood into the atmosphere, giving the angels their share.

Menu items contain both a raw food bar of oysters and seafood, as well as traditional Japanese-themed bar food.

In 2002 New York Magazine called Angel's Share the city's best date bar.
