Dates and Details

Independence Day Parade on July 4th at 11:45 AM

Observe the annual holiday parade that can be best viewed along Constitution Avenue. Of course, no Independence Day is complete without seeing the marching band, celebrity participants, and drill team dynamics.

July 4th Fireworks on the National Mall

See one of the nation’s most incredible fireworks displays at the National Mall. Hosted by the National Park Service, the spectacles are launched from the Lincoln Memorial. The shows start at 9 PM.

A Capitol Fourth Concert

A spectacular concert takes place on the West Lawn of the U.S. Capitol each year. PBS will broadcast this free show to watch the show in person or on your couch. Expect an array of sounds, including classical music, military fanfare, and pop.

Independence Day at Mount Vernon

Drive to Mount Vernon and experience how the colonial people celebrate Independence Day. Munch on 18-century-style snacks or observe Revolutionary War drills. Cap off the day with a unique daytime pyrotechnic show. Remember that this is a ticketed event.

July 4th at the National Archives

No need to wonder how the first president of the United States and his wife would have celebrated Independence Day. July 4th at the National Archives gives you a glimpse of that colonial celebration. Please note: you must register in advance.
