You will want to visit a seafood restaurant at least once while you’re in town. Here is a list of my favorite seafood restaurants in San Diego in no particular order.
Karina’s Mexican Seafood
Mexican seafood doesn’t only involve fish tacos. Karina’s is known for their large variety of fresh ceviches (a seafood salsa marinated in lime juice and chilies, typically eaten with tortilla chips), and Mexican cuisine favorites prepared with fresh fish and shellfish. Check out their newest location in Downtown just blocks away from the Symphony.
Ironside Fish & Oyster Bar
This beautiful restaurant in Little Italy is designed like a train station of the 1920’s, and has been acclaimed for it’s unique seafood dishes. The menu is created fresh daily, and has offered patrons whole fish dishes, and a lobster roll with brown butter mayonnaise.
This La Jolla seafood market has been selling fresh fish in San Diego since the 1970s, and has recently moved to a larger location across the street to accommodate the line of people waiting to buy their delicious prepared dishes and retail options. I love their sandwiches and the cioppino!
The Marine Room
This fine-dining establishment on the La Jolla Shores beach is where I come with my boyfriend when we have a celebration. The dishes are so delicately prepared, that you’ll forget you’re at a restaurant. You’ll think you’ve teleported to an art museum. Aside from the beautiful plating techniques, the food is outstanding!
This neighborhood restaurant/market is situated in the quite streets of the north side of Pacific Beach. Their ocean-to-table theme offers patrons some of the freshest fish in town. Check out their Tuesday Tastings for a pre fix menu prepared with only the freshest, and locally sourced ingredients for only $40 for a 3-course meal!
Now that you’ve got some great ideas for where to go for flavors from under the sea, you’ve got to go try them! You can thank me later!
