I have stayed here 3 times. Twice for business. Once for leisure. The price is fair and I like the location - it is across the street from Madison Square Gardens and Penn Station. You can get anywhere from here. Cool history tidbit - Nikola Telsa lived and died here. There's a plaque on room #3327 and outside of the building.

"Promising but ended up being disappointed"

Myself and my partner had booked our holiday to NYC through a travel agents so we didn’t have much choice as far as hotels went. We arrived at the New Yorker and immediately were told we had to pay a $250 fee as “insurance” which was the first red flag, I was aware that there are city taxes etc but when booking I had asked my travel agent to find out was there any other fees and they had told me there were not going to be. After reluctantly paying the $250 we then went up to our room which was probably one of the smallest hotels rooms I’ve ever been in ( I was expecting small but not this small and especially for the price) and our view was facing another wall! We were also told that our price included breakfast which turned out to only be a pastry and coffee each morning. I’m not sure whether this was the fault of the travel agents or not but I was very disappointed after the money we had paid. Being only 21 we saved for months for this and it felt very underwhelming.. thankfully we were really only in the hotel when we went to sleep and not much longer than that! I just felt that for the price we could have definitely gotten a bigger room in NYC than what we did! When leaving I only got €96 back as there were charges in the end for the “free WiFi” so after paying $250 (€200) we got back half.. at this rate we were already disappointed so we didn’t argue! Definitely wouldn’t come back to stay here unfortunately

"My Amazing Stay."

I was very impressed by the hospitality of the staff. Everyone was warm and inviting, and the amenities were fantastic. Although I was located in center of everything, I found my favorite place to eat was "Tick Tock." The food was great and the service provided was awesome. Cant say enough good things about my stay. I highly recommend booking your vacation and or business stay here.

"Our go-to for short, theater-related NY trips"
TripAdvisor user rating 5 out of 5

We make lots of 2-3 day NY trips over the course of the year and need to stay in and around mid-town. SInce we take the Amrtak in, the New Yorker is great because its across the street from Penn. It also had VERY reasonably priced large suites AND the Tic Toc diner (24/7 when we aren't in the middle of COVID) is great for meals. Also, its a quick trip to all the theatrical stuff we need to do (rehearsals, auditions, training, etc.) and with the A Train RIGHT there, we can easily shoot uptown to see our son in Washington Heights. So very convenient, big rooms, good food, easy access to theatrical stuff all at a terrific price makes it our go to.

"HORRIBLE STAY. Racist staff- even WORSE management"
TripAdvisor user rating 1 out of 5

Im someone who rarely leaves reviews. But In this current climate, dont stay at the new yorker unless you enjoy BEING RACIALLY PROFILED and treated like crap by staff. Security specifically requested to see my hotel room card instead of anyone else’s in the lobby. Also, front desk staff are unhelpful and rude. And when you question their ability to work, their manager threatens to kick you out their hotel. Horrible horrible treatment. Call downstairs for small things like towels and it never gets bought up. Specifically requested NO room cleaning during our stay due to covid related reasons and they come in to clean anyways. Ann peterson is the hotel manager and barry rauch is general manager. Not surprised with how their staff acts based on how unprofessional manegement is. AVOID this hotel at all costs. They dont deserve your business

"Not what we expected"

Overall nice place. We were expecting a luxury hotel based on photos price and review but it was pretty average. Dated rooms and amenities. The security guard is super judgmental too, he stopped me like five times and told me that I was not staying in the hotel and nobody was even occupying a room on my floor!?!!?
