Description

from Wine Lover's Tour
Love fine wine? You’ll experience some of the world’s finest on our wine-tasting tour of Napa and Sonoma Valley wineries. Not a wine expert? Not to worry! You’ll have a great time, meet some really cool people, see amazing sights and learn all about fruits of the vine that have made valleys north of San Francisco so famous.

And you’ll love this: We pick you up right at your hotel in downtown San Francisco.

You’ll leave the bustle of The City behind as you cross the Golden Gate Bridge or Bay Bridge heading for wine country. As you roll through wine country, you’ll experience the many microclimates and see the soil types that combine to produce some of the world’s best winemaking grapes – Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay, Merlot, Zinfandel, Pinot Noir, Sauvignon Blanc.

Along the way, keep your eyes open for endangered critters that make a home in the area, especially near the Napa-Sonoma Marsh. You may see a California brown pelican or a black rail, a Ridgway’s rail or a Suisun shrew. The lush hillsides of the wine country are home to black-tailed deer, coyotes, red-tailed hawks and even a mountain lion.

Fast-forward to today, and you’ll see a beautiful region that produces some of the world’s best wines. Don’t just take our word for it. You can look it up! At the Paris Wine Tasting of 1976, a contest conceived by a British wine merchant with French judges, California wines won best-in-the-world honors.

You won’t be asked to do any blind-tasting comparisons during your four-winery tour. Instead, just remember these five easy wine-tasting steps: See, swirl, sniff, sip, swallow. Repeat. Now you’ve got it!

Enjoy a delicious picnic lunch with your tour companions and try out a variety of food-wine pairings and see what delights your taste buds. Whether you consider yourself a wine connoisseur or a wine-tasting novice, you’ll be warmed by the good company of the people in your tour and your friendly vineyard hosts. After lunch, the tour will be customized to the groups’ desires by visit two more requested wineries (fees not included).

Though Napa and Sonoma wineries are the stars of this tour, your Expedition Leader will make sure to stop on the way back so you can take some amazing selfies in front of the Golden Gate Bridge or Bay Bridge before arriving back at your hotel.

"EXTRA FUN & A TOURGUIDE THAT MADE US LOL"

Ok - to my shame.... I can’t remember our funny tour guides name from a Napa Wine Tasting Tour this week..... it may of been Greg. He told us he had been doing tours for this company for x2 years approx. He was the perfect tour guide and had us lolling the entire trip. Pic attached. It was a long boozy day and he made it extra special - with a YMCA DANCE among other routines. Pics attached. The first stop if the day was at MUIR WOODS - $15 each to enter which we were not expecting - so glad we had $ with us. A beautiful woodland area where they filmed Star Wars. We were there at 09:30 so it wasn’t busy but I imagine if you go later in the day it would be. The red wood trees were stunning - as you would expect at 200 feet tall. We meant a lot there. You get about x1 hour here so make the most of it. The toilets were disgusting - as we have found at other national park sites. There is a small gift shop and a cafe too. The only x2 negatives on the trip were the gourmet add on at the restaurant we stopped at in Sanoma & the tour bus was very - VERY bouncy. You have to select the food you want when you book your trip - in our case x2 months prior - which is always an odd thing to do. - The food wasn’t great. Salad - few mixed leaves, a watery beany veg soup that we left. The ravioli sauce was watery and only having an hour at the stop we had to rush x3 courses. - Sure there was wine with each course but if we were to do it again we would of grabbed some American food in one of the other Sanoma eateries. The x2 women next to us from our tour left 90% of their wine and most of their food too. We took the tour guides advice and had ice cream at the family run SWEET SCOOPS next door - which gave free samples & then HUGE portions of delicious sweet ice cream. I had rocky road and salted caramel. Service was great (separate review). It was a pretty hot day too so take plenty of sun screen. Take some bottled water too. You stop off at x3 very different vineyards. The first - a huge site run by nice guys with plenty of knowledge. The 2nd was our fave FAMILY MAYO - small set up but fab host and a great vibe - very clean toilets. Told us about the wild fires giving their 2017 barrels a smokey flavour...... as you may expect. A final stop off at an industrial vineyard with a stunning view and balcony / porch. Found out why the end of the vine rows have roses planted etc. All in all - we would recommend. Congrats
