First off, the staff could not have been more friendly and helpful with the exception of our experience with the pool. I called the resort a couple months before our arrival and spoke to the recreation staff about reserving a cabana space at the pool and I selected 2 day beds at the adult pool. The day we checked in for the day beds, the pool attendant that day told me that anyone could use the day beds and you didn't have to pay if no one was using them. I asked why then I paid and he shrugged his shoulders.Someone was sitting in one of the daybeds I had reserved and the pool attentdant said he didn't want to ask her to leave, so I had to ask the woman to leave since I had reserved that spot. Later in the morning I went up to ask the pool attendant when we were supposed to get the waters and snacks mentioned on the website and he said I was supposed to get them when I checked in (although he was the same person who checked me in) We were in the pool when the server dropped off menus at the day beds. When we got out of the pool and wanted to order lunch, no one came to wait on us. I went up to the pool area and asked one of the servers who told me to put a towel on top of the day bed and that would be a sign to the server that we wanted to order. No one came for awhile so I stood up and started waving to a server who did come down. She told us she was very busy and probably wouldn't see the towel so if we wanted service, we should go up to the pool area. We did get to order lunch and after one incorrect delivery, we did get our food. Later in the afternoon, the server came to settle the check. What no one told us was that the area next to the pool was under construction and we spent the whole day watching and listening to the noise of a worker going back and forth with cement in a motorized bucket machine. So, I paid for something that other people got for free, got little to no service from the pool and wait staff and was never told about the construction although I did get a front row seat watching a concrete worker go back and forth dozens of times. I had called in advance of my vacation to ask about where the best place might be to rent a cabana/day bed and was never told any of this. The next day at the pool when we sat in regular, free lounge chairs, I saw that all the cabanas were already filled with towels and had reserved signs on them, as well as menus on the chairs. There was nothing like that for us on the day beds we reserved. The difference in service was startling. I do think the pool staff on the second day seemed more responsible and probably better trained than the staff on my first day. My other problem was that there was a dripping, clear, sticky substance on the door to our lanai. I called housekeeping on our first morning there to ask for the door to be cleaned and it was never cleaned during our stay. The resort is beautiful and the front desk staff and valets are top notch. I can't praise them enough! The pool & housekeeping experience however left a lot to be desired.

Pros - various pools, location, customer service, other food places and shops in walking distance. Cons - get a car at the airport or at budget nearby. On property min $124 a day. -BUGS, when paying this much you don't expect to share your room with bugs. We didn't leave food out, and called and other guess where having probablys because they brought someone out to spray. -took 4 hours to get into room after arrived

"Beautiful. Relaxing. Wonderful."

My family had a wonderful time at this amazing hotel. Absolutely beautiful accommodations. We had the perfect room with a view and loved watching the people walk by and the waves crashing. The beach was fun and snorkeling was too. We rented kayaks and went snorkeling by ourselves. The fish and turtles were amazing but we also saw two sharks and that was alarming to say the least. Ha! The boys jumped into the kayaks so fast! Then we saw them swim by our kayaks, yikes! It didn't stop us from hanging out in the ocean on our rafts though. We thoroughly enjoyed the infinity pools too. So relaxing. The shuttle is a perfect way to get around the shops and restaurants too. Try out happy hour at MonkeyPod, it was delicious! Makenna beach is nearby if you want wild tide waves, but it's definitely a local vibe with loud music and drinking, my teenagers thought it was cool. The slide in the kids area is so fast and fun, don't miss doing it! Overall a great experience and wonderful vacation.

"Great experience with a few oddities"

Overall it was a wonderful experience. I was staying at this resort for a work trip, so I wasn't able to utilize all of the great things the resort and the island had to offer. The valet and the front desk attendants were friendly, welcoming, and efficient. I appreciated the cool towel and fruit juice at check-in. The resort is split up in to several buildings, which I understand gives the resort a little more of a secluded feeling but it was a little confusing getting to my room the first time. I was also situated directly next to a public bathroom which wasn't ideal. The room was clean and functional. With the king bedroom, it had a stand-up shower which I appreciated. I never need a tub in a hotel room. I was on the ground floor which had a nice patio that walked out onto a grass garden area. I did not have a view of the ocean but otherwise, I enjoyed the room. The room had a large TV with a decent selection of channels, with very few movie channels. I visited two of the resort's restaurants. Humble Kitchen, which serves breakfast and dinner, both while expectantly pricy were delicious. All of the appetizers at dinner were fantastic. The pool restaurant, Kapa, is nicely situated next one of the three pools. I had the poke appetizer which was wonderful and a fruit plate. The pool that I got to enjoy for a short time was the Serenity pool which was advertised as the adult's only pool. For the most part, this was true, a few well-behaved kids snuck in while I was there. Get to this pool early if you want a chair, they get claimed early and a rarely vacated. The resort does not have a beach immediately attached to it. There are beaches at the Grand Wailea and the beach resort on the opposite side, which are a short walk, but its not as convenient as I would have liked. The grounds are beautiful and well maintained. The views are spectacular and my stay was memorable. If you are looking for a wonderful experience, stay here. If you have to have a beach right when you walk out of your hotel, maybe look elsewhere.

"Nice Location, Uncoordinated Service, Weird layout"

Stayed for a few nights in December right after Christmas. Upon arrival they sent us off to our room late at night...nobody walked us. We were told that our luggage would eventually show up?? How does that work? We walked around in the dark for 25 minutes lost. The property is a series of different buildings all off a dimly lit outdoor walkway. By the time we got to our room, our luggage beat us there :)! Ha! We were so hungry...so we wanted to go out to eat. There is a hotel shuttle but we were told there was only 1...and apparently we had to wait 25 minutes. So we just took a cab at this point since we had flown 14 hours and were now hungry. Pool was ok and has been redone in last few years. Nice beach location and liked the slide. I was optimistic about breakfast at Roy's and ordered pancakes and my daughter got french toast, The pancakes came out and were uncooked. I told the server, and she did the right thing by taking it off and offering me the small buffer complimentary. But even then, for coffee, a juice, and the pancakes and french toast, it was $50. For lunch and dinner, I did not think food options on property were robust - we went off property for all 3 meals after that. Rooms are average size and are clearly turned over and used ALOT. I found someone's hair burned and hanging off the hairdryer. GROSS! Called housekeeping and they replaced it...but why I am complaining about it? All in all...was glad that day 3 came when we were moving hotels to our usual Maui hotel, Fairmont Kea Lani.
