This was our 1st time at the Portofino Bay and it was GREAT! We've been staying at the Royal Pacific which is nice and family oriented, not that the Portofoino isn't it's just that they have an adult side too which is really nice. The staff we're very accommodating and the facility itself is very Italian. Our room was overlooking the bay so we were able to watch the coming and going of everyday activities. The Bay side rooms are subject to a bit of outdoor noise which for the most part is pleasant. If you're looking for a room with a great view and less activity then the adult pool side rooms are your best bet. The boat ride to the parks is a better deal then walking, we like to walk and did take the path a few time but once we gave the boat ride a go, we were sold. It runs every 15 minutes or so and the ride itself is fairly short. We booked our room with the Club lounge option and for us it is worth it. Breakfast is the same everyday but there is plenty and it is good. Scrambled eggs, meat selection, hot and cold cereal muffins and toast. Coffee, milk and of course fresh fruit. Lunch was unimpressive, peanut butter and jelly sandwich that's about it. Supper was fine each day was something different Italian, Mexican, Greek, American were the choices we had; good but simple and eat as much as you enjoy. Beer and wine with cheese was a nice touch for the evening although it ended before the nightly treats of cookies and assorted pies or cake. Of course you have coffee, water, juice and soda at every serving. There is a 3rd pool, the hillside pool, small, quite and kind of toward the rear of the resort, we didn't try it but it did look inviting. The only thing that I didn't care for was the separate pass key for the lounge, when you're caring 2 passes already 1 extra is a pain. Park pass, room pass and a lounge pass. At the Royal your room key is your lounge pass and your express pass as well. Overall, I'm looking forward to staying there again.

I decided on this hotel due to it being slightly cheaper at the time then the other higher end hotels. I am truly glad I did and from the moment I checked in, you're treated with a kind front desk attendant, who makes the original check in a lot more pleasant. When you get into the hotel it is MASSIVE, but once you know where you're going it is easy to get around. Their service to the park is so convenient, I never waited longer than 5 minutes for a boat to be arriving. They service until 2am and make things so much fun if you're going to Halloween Horror nights like my family. Also advice we found out to late, they have a lot of activities on property particularly after park close, such as a pool movie night which was one of our favorite experiences. So definitely don't think this place as just a place to sleep, before going to the park. This place is a lot more

Had a great time. The water taxi to the parks is wonderful. Easy to get park passes, restaurants were very good and atmosphere of the entire place is wonderful. The pools were clean and comfortable. Would stay here again.

I have stayed at the Portofino on several different occasions, but this was a horrible experience. Our room was on the 2nd floor overlooking the beach pool. The noise level was horrible. I complained several times and nothing was done to reduce the noise or make my stay more comfortable. I was told when making the reservations that there was a shuttle to take us to the other properties. Well, that's true - but what they didn't tell you is you have to take a water taxi/shuttle to city walk, then back to another hotel, then walk to another hotel. So yes, it was available, but it was a long way to get to the other properties. Restaurants were closed at resort and no mention when we checked in that they would be closed. Housekeeping didn't even come to our room the second day we were there. We were gone from 8 a.m. until 4 p.m. and they never even came. All in all, this was not a good experience. And it's a shame since I bragged so much about the place to my partner.

Great experience at hotel and at parks. Customer service was excellent. Resort was beautiful and we stayed club level for the first time and will definitely stay club level again. The value for club level was exceptional. The food in the lunge was beyond our expectations.
