"Excellent conference venue"
TripAdvisor user rating 5 out of 5
Reviewed December 07, 2019 NEW
Our annual teachers' conference with 1000 attendees over two days has moved around the city a bit over the last ten years, and I like this venue best. It's centrally located, has excellent food on site, and the lobby is well laid out for comfort, lounging in comfortable seating arrangements in a wifi hotspot, or just grabbing a cup of the infused water of the day (there are always two choices, such as orange anise or mint cucumber). The catering for our awards reception and for our coffee breaks was excellent, as well.

"Not at all happy"

Spent the weekend of Nov 15 at this hotel and was not at all happy with the check in. I arrived at the desk and gave my credit card to the hostess. For some reason it did not work mor did two other cards work in the card reader. My wife tried with her card and the same result. All the hostess kept saying was that it was an old system. Meanwhile other people are checking in with no problems at all. Anyway way a payment was needed and she asked for a debit card. I really didn't want to do this because I like to collect points on my credit card. Believe it or not my debit card worked in the card reader. Went up to the room not very happy to drop off my luggage and then wondered in the Eaton Centre. Did some shopping with the same credit cards that did not work earlier at hotel with no issues at all. Later that evening had dinner at the hotel restaurant, which was very nice. Had the meal billed to the room. An hour later I get a phone call from the restaurant telling me that I did not have signing privileges because there was no credit card on file. Went down to the restaurant feeling quite embarrassed. And how did I pay? With the same credit card that did not work at the front desk. The next morning went out for breakfast and did some more shopping. When I returned to the hotel and spoke with a manager. She was apologetic and said things will be fixed when we check out the following day. In the meantime the hotel sent up a bottle of wine along with cheese and crackers which was a nice gesture. We checked out the following morning. The host at the desk tried to refund the money on my debit card. Guess what? It didn't work!!! Tried three times and I just gave up. The manager was at the next counter but I was just frustrated and wanted to leave, so I did not speak to her. Still had to pay for parking which I did on my credit card which did not work two days earlier. A week later I get an email from the hotel. I fill out the questionnaire saying the same as I am here right now. I then get an email from the assistant rooms operations manager. I email her back telling her when she can call me back. It has now been nine days with no call back. I will say that the hotel is well located and the rooms very nice. But after this type of service I will not be returning here.

"Good hotel, if you’re silent .."

I’m a Marriott member so typically enjoy the consistency that comes with this chain of hotels. Never in my years of travelling have I had security come to my room. I arrived at the hotel late Saturday night after a long travel day to go wedding dress shopping with my mom for the next couple days. Five minutes after walking into the room, before my shoes and jacket had even come off, security was at our door asking us to be quiet. Obviously shocked when we opened the door, when questioning him on the “complaint” he proceed to speak over us with a standard robot like response. Not sure how it was even physically possible to call the front the desk and make it to our room in the period of time I actually been there. When I called and asked to be moved to a different room, they were extremely rude and not accommodating. Long story short, if you want to have a conversation with the person your rooming with, don’t get a joining rooms and don’t expect the hotel to care about your concerns otherwise.

"Great Location + very quiet"

Have stayed here many times -- the location near Dundas Square + Eaton Centre and subway can't be beat. The rooms are spacious and clean - the Executive lounge is great with access to the restaurant servings for breakfast. Staff at front desk, concierge, lounge and housekeeping all attentive and friendly. This is one of the quietest hotels in the city where one is not exposed to traffic and emergency vehicle noises in spite of being close to the various hospital complexes on University. Would recommend,

"Nice Rooms with a Good Location"

I stayed at this hotel for 4 nights. The room was clean, the bed comfortable, and the comfort control system. The executive lounge was excellent and two ladies, Anna and Rachelle were exceptionally friendly and helpful. It was as if they welcomed us into their home. There are a couple of subway stations available within the Eaton Centre. All around, it was an excellent stay.
