Spent three nights there on our way to a week in Kauai. Primarily stopped in Honolulu to see Henry Kapono at Duke's(located in the Outrigger) on Sunday and a couple museums. I can't speak to the pool or beach scene , but the hotel experience was excellent. Great ambiance. Great location. Great staff. The front desk, valet and housekeeping operations were really impressive. The valets would call me by name upon returning the car after an outing. That's Four Season's level performance. Based on my experience this hotel is very well managed . Experiences can vary in the best hotels. Room location , especially in a resort hotel, can make or break a stay. Make sure , not only here, but any hotel in Hawaii when you make reservations you understand what you're getting. Oceanfront is different than oceanview. There 's the always nebulous partial oceanview. City view can land you a couple of floors above a noisy street. It's In some of the reviews mention was made of problems with the elevators. There's (what I think is) a new system in place that assigns elevators . It works off room cards. I don't know if the previous complaints were from before or after this system was implemented. I thought it worked pretty well. FYI. There is a nightclub called the Blue Note in the hotel . It features primarily jazz musicians but I noticed there were comedians and more mainstream artists on the booking calendar. A really interesting venue. You don't see nightclubs with this kind of atmosphere anymore.

Every year, our Ohana comes to Waikiki for the MacFarlane Canoe Race. The convenience along with the best staff and Ono restaurants is what brings us back for the past 8 years. We’ve stayed at all the other hotels, and there’s no comparison. Even the valet employees remember us. We won’t stay anywhere else... for us, this is home

"Outrigger Waikiki Beach Resort is amazing"

You literally are located on the famous Waikiki beach sand. We stayed in a ocean front room with 2 x double beds and a sofa bed (2 x adult and 2 x children). The room was spacious, comfortable, good bathroom and that view was truly incredible. All the staff were knowledgeable, friendly and happy. We ate at Hula Grill and Dukes (you have not lived until you have tried the Hula pie!!). The location is perfectly central to all the Waikiki attractions too. We loved our stay and can't wait to come back.

"Good value for money in comparison"

I stayed in an oceanfront room with my husband and two children aged 12 and 9. As stated plenty of times the location is absolutely prime! If you get an oceanfront room your room will have equally as good a view as a Royal Hawaiian tower room at a fraction of the cost ( i know because we stayed in a tower room at Royal Hawaiian last time we came). You cannot compare the Outrigger to either Moana surfrider or The Royal Hawaiian. The Outrigger has no street presence or old world charm. It is dark feeling and not a “pretty” hotel but it does have a Hawaiian feel that is not tacky. The rooms are decent size (at least in oceanfront room). Our room 1026 had two double beds and a comfortable sofa bed. Has a small fridge in the bathroom 🤦‍♀️ coffee maker (drip coffee style) again in the bathroom but not kettle (you can ask for one). As also mentioned before the pool is very small and the pool area pool chairs etc feel very cramped. Also because you need to walk through there to get to beach i cant imagine it would feel relaxing sitting in those pool chairs as it would be super busy. BUT you have a spectacular beach right at your feet. And all the shops are right there for you also!!! You are in the heart of all the action. Special note on the elevator. They are slow and have a funny system and only 3 of them. So more often than not you will be waiting a long time and feel like a herd of cattle being squashed in. My last comment is that if you have loads of money to spend then go to The Royal Hawaiian or Moana Surfrider. If you are on somewhat of a budget but wabt a good hotel in fantastic location then this is a great hotel!

"The Perfect hotel on Waikiki Beach"

This hotel offer the full meal deal - located on the beach (you literally walked out to the beach from the hotel); restaurants on site; good bar on site; pool; daily live music entertainment; excellent service at all levels and a music club for top notch evening entertainment. We had a Ocean Front room as we like to start our morning with a coffee on the balcony. We found ALL the staff to be very friendly and professional. Dukes is a great bar/restaurant to enjoy a drink while looking at the ocean & listening to live music. We had great service but two servers were exceptional, Brandon & Stephanie G.- they made the experience more enjoyable by their outgoing personalities, attention to detail and taking the time to explain little details so we fully appreciate everything Duke's had to offer. Very clean hotel - it is hard to believe how spotless it was kept given that the hotel is on the beach. Blue notes club is definitely worth a visit - we saw Eric Darius while we were there - excellent entertainer! We have stayed at another very nice Outrigger hotel however, the Outrigger Waikiki Beach Resort would be our first choice for a hotel in Waikiki.
