We arrived early, knowing we likely couldn’t check in yet. No problem... the person said she’d call us when our room was ready. Seems reasonable. The person after me did the same thing, except immediately got a bottle of water for him and his wife. Not sure how they rated better than I did. I then asked if I could bring in my luggage and have our car parked. The manager never lifted his eyes from whatever he was doing and talked “at” me like I did t exist, to tell me that I was on the wrong side of the street, so no (the guy that was going to park our car didn’t mind in the least, but the manager also spoke to him like he was non-existent - such disrespect is no way to treat your staff!!!!!). We went on our way and explored the city - never received a call about check in. When we arrived back after 4pm, the lady checking is in said she was SO SORRY that the person that checked us in never called us. I proceeded to tell her that SHE was the person that checked us in. Red faced, she said it was the person that made our “package” that should have called us. My mom asked for our bottled water... ;) We walked down the hall to our room where someone had a cart with paint. I asked if there was wet paint - he said no. Then we found the wet paint 😡. We can hear everything that happens in the hallway. We just received our breakfast voucher. Breakfast consists of one hot beverage and one pastry. But there are two of us. That’s right. Breakfast include.... coffee and a donut to share?!?! This has been ridiculous. The room is cute - small but fine. The service is obnoxiously bad with not even a small amount of repentance. The Holiday Inn and Suites we stayed at last night in Jersey City was WAY BETTER than this place.

My spouse and I have always loved the city of New York. We went there even before knowing each other. The New Year 2020 was the very first time we could travel together. Let me tell you: there is probably no better place than Evelyn Hotel we could have ever dreamt of for this occasion. It must come from the unique atmosphere you will feel at this place, but I won't tell you more. I just think people working at Evelyn love what they are doing everyday. We will return but until then, we keep a lovely and warm memory of our stay at Evelyn and of the city of New York.

The minute we walked in, I knew we were in for a treat. The front desk was extremely welcoming and our room was ready upon arrival. Every inch of the lobby was well decorated and even smelled amazing. We were in the city for my niece’s birthday weekend and so glad I chose the Evelyn. The hotel sent a personalized surprise up to the room and my niece couldn’t have been happier. Thank you so much DeMarcus and team for going above and beyond. You guys are the best!

"An affordable boutique hotel in NYC. What a wonderful surprise"

We stayed at The Evelyn for four nights. As soon as we talked in, we were thrilled with the hotel lobby, and the cheerful greeting that awaited us, After a very brief check in, and after offered bottles of water, we went to our room on the seventh floor. Upon entering our room, we were greeted with what can only be described as charming, albeit to say the least. Our room overlooked E 27th St. giving us a great view of the street below, and of the beautiful New York Life Insurance Building. Beautiful, extremely clean furnishing, comfy beds, and a fully equipped bathroom made our stay more that comfortable, and was the best respite after a long day in New York City. And the location! A block and a half away from major subway lines in either direction, so getting around is a cinch. And only a few minutes walk from the Empire State Building, and SOHO! The bakery/cafe down in the lobby is your destination for a good strong cup of coffee, and some of the most delectable Italian pastries I have ever come across! Now, as wonderful as place as this is, if you are getting double/double, don't plan out spreading our your suitcases! Those particular rooms are a bit small, but we tend to live out of our suitcases anyway, so plopping them up on to the bed to get out the clothes for the next day was no big deal. The only other hangup I had was the hot water- its not. It's warm. But at lest it's not cold! Still, even with these few little things, I would not hesitate to stay here again, and as I told them at the front desk when they asked me how it was, we will stay there again on a future visit. We highly recommend!
