"Excellent Service, Nice Rooms, Great Location"

Myself and my fiancé stayed at The Evelyn in March. The location was perfect, walking distance to lots of tourist attractions, and great restaurants and bars nearby. The rooms, while small, were nice and for the price, fantastic value. The gym, again while very small, has everything you may require for a short stay. We had an unfortunate event that meant we had to return home a day early. This is where the staff and service was exemplary. Without much expectation, I informed the hotel manager of our situation to see if any refund could be managed. Despite the complications of having booked through a third party, not only did they refund the missed night, they also provided their phone to connect with this third party and handled the emailed exchange. In a difficult situation, this was noted and much appreciated. We’ll be back as a result. Thank you.

We travel frequently for business and this was the best hotel stay we've ever had. Rowin, the bellhop, greeted us by name ever morning leaving the hotel and every evening coming back. It was such a personal feel. Truly a stay we will never forget. Thanks for making us feel at home Rowin!

"Excellent hotel - great location"

This is a brilliant hotel. The staff are friendly and helpful, the room (although not huge) was clean, well equipped and comfortable - we really enjoyed our stay! A big shout out to the bar staff who were very welcoming and to the restaurant where we ate twice - it was that good. And we had breakfast at the Italian cafe downstairs almost every day - a good start to the day. Great location handy for two subway lines and just down the road from the Empire State Building - but very handy for all the other attractions. Good restaurants all around as well! Thanks to all at the hotel - you helped us to enjoy your brilliant city: fortunately, just before the city shut down....

"Lovely Hotel, Fantastic staff, Great location"

My family stayed at the Evelyn for a weekend in NYC. They checked us in early and the staff was very gracious. They have an evening happy hour with free wine and snacks. You also receive a voucher for pastry and coffee or tea at the bakery. Our room was lovely. We had a double room and there were so many thoughtful and unique touches. There's a scent when you walk in that is delightful. The floor of the bathroom is heated and the tile is decorated with sheet music. It's just adorable. We joked that the ghost of Evelyn herself was making sure we had a pleasant stay. The bed, bedding and pillows were comfortable. There was a bit more street noise than I have had at other NYC hotels. We were on the 9th floor and I think they could use thicker windows but... we all slept. The shower was a bit tricky. Personally I'm not a fan of "rainfall" shower heads but it was okay. The location is great, right near the subway, the Empire state building and Madison Square Park.

"Attractive hotel but thin walls"

We stayed on a Saturday night and had a mostly good experience at the Evelyn. The lobby has a nice updated art-deco inspired design (and a beautiful bar) and the rooms likewise have a nice (if not exactly luxurious) vintage design flair. The room was clean but small, though size-wise it seemed pretty much on par with a lot of mid-range NYC hotels we've stayed in. The shower looked nice but water pressure was lacking and the bed was okay but could have been better (the mattress felt a bit squishy and beyond its prime). Upon checkin the woman at the front desk greeted us and started checking us in but did not actually look up from her computer for a good 2 minutes, which we thought was weird. Partway through the checkin process another man came out who was much friendlier, and in general the rest of the staff in the hotel (including doormen) were very friendly and welcoming. The main complaint we had though was that our door/walls were very thin and we were bothered by near constant hallway noise (talking and banging around of suitcases as well as housekeeping incl. their beeping walkie-talkies) on Sunday morning starting at about 7 am and continuing for several hours. But our room was located near a stairwell as well as close to the elevators, so maybe it's not as bad in other areas. However, on the 12th floor we did not hear any noise whatsoever from the street, which has been a problem for us in a lot of NYC hotels.
