I stayed here this past Saturday night with a friend in separate rooms. As we arrived we had 2 options for parking, valet or self park. The attendants really helped us out by giving us some good advice. There was an event (Gaspariila Parade) in town so we self parked in a parking garage a block away for a lot less than valet. Once we parked, we checked in which was quick and easy. We had rooms on the 7th and 17th floors. I entered my room and was taken back how clean, updated, spacious and gorgeous it was with a view of the riverfront! So for the room, A+. The lobby was beautiful and large with lots of areas to sit down and relax. It was centered around the two restaurants within the hotel. Really nice and spacious area. Staff was extremely friendly and helpful when I asked about areas around the hotel. I entered the Garrison Tavern and sat at the bar to have a drink but no bartender was available and left after several minutes. Not good. Other than that, everything else was excellent and I really enjoyed this stay. I would definitely be back.

On the pro side: the location is excellent, the lobby is large and beautiful. Our room and bathroom was clean, attractive and modern. On the con side: Calling staff from the room took an age with the telephone ringing and ringing. There were no bath robes and no shower caps in the bathroom. We called down twice before they were eventually delivered to the room...and what strange bathrobes they were!. We called room service for croissants, coffee and orange juice. It came in a brown paper bag. The orange juice was reconstituted juice in a plastic screw-cap bottle. The croissants were certainly not freshly baked, the coffee was in a picnic box with a spout. Hampton Inn could have done better.. We have never experienced such low quality room service in a hotel of this type. The bathroom floor tiles were not non-slip. They became very slippery when wet, which could cause a serious accident. Although the check-in staff were pleasant and efficient, they were somewhat intrusive in their questions...for example asking if I was retired, and what I did for a living. Too familiar for my liking.

My wife and I had booked an activity at the Florida Aquarium to Dive with the Sharks. We decided to drive up the night before and stay in the area. After reading multiple reviews of hotels that are close to the Florida Aquarium, we decided on the Tampa Marriott Water Street. We arrived at night and were immediately impressed with its visual presentation. Upon entering the property through the revolving door, our first impression was one of AMAZEMENT. We spent about 20 minutes just walking around observing the lobby area before we checked in. After checking in we made our way up to our room o the 18th floor. Oh, I must say that the staff were friendly, patient and eager to make sure we had everything that we needed. Once in the room we were extremely pleased with the spaciousness, cleanliness and overall layout of the room. Then we pulled back the room darkening shade to make our way to the balcony... all I can say is WOW!!!!!!! Our room faced the marina and the view was literally "Jaw-dropping". Make SURE you get a room that faces the marina. We spent the rest of the evening on the balcony taking and enjoying the view, the light music we cold hear and of course each other. Thank you Marriott for a memorable stay. We will DEFINITELY return soon!

My family and I were in Tampa over the holiday visiting friends in the city. When checking in, the customer service at the front desk was lousy, and their attitude is not customer-friendly at all. The hotel was oversold, the check-in lines were long, and the staff incompetent & unconcerned. Their motto is 'Be glad we're here as opposed to we're glad you're here!' We received the best service from Elaine at the restaurant, who exemplified what it is to be in the 'service' business. Also, at the pool area staff were very attentive and actually happy to serve guests, going above and beyond to ensure our comfort. Perhaps the management can learn a thing or two from these front-line employees - and up their game. All-in-all, a mixed bag in terms of experience, and without a doubt, one of the more lackluster hotels I have stayed in, at the chain, and at other global chains as well. If you have the time/ability, and can drive to Orlando, visit the Orlando Marriott World Center where you will receive superlative customer service and a differentiated experience. The Orlando Marriott is a fine example of true Marriott hospitality!

I travel every week for work and have stayed in various hotels in the Tampa area. This by by far the BEST hotel in the area. It's modern, clean, updated and has great amenities. Not sure about all the rooms, but some have a balcony so it's nice to open the door and get some fresh air. Great gym and located downtown. Valet experience wasn't the best, but will try again next time.
