Our room had a great view of the beach and the ocean, even saw whales from our balcony! The bathroom setup was efficient with toilet and shower seperate from the vanity which also served as a bar/kitchenette.

We had an awesome and memorable time at the Royal Lahaina Resort. The friendly atmosphere of the employees and the location were terrific. We were there for a wedding of our nephew, the entire wedding party stayed there, it was awesome and we were treated outstandingly! Having planned to stay for a vacation after the wedding was a great bonus. We enjoyed the Barefoot Bar by day, especially happy hour....Mai Tai's prices definitely worth the wait...lol... We enjoyed appetizers and more there. We had the buffet breakfast included in our hotel stay, definitely worth it as more than enough food to probably last the entire day! Eggs, pancakes, french toast, bacon, sausages, eggs benedict, and so much more, fruit and oatmeal....you cannot go wrong. Plenty to do in Maui, we snorkeled, zip lined, checked out Front Street (restuarants, shops and more) Definitely recommend hitting Foodland Poke Bowl, Maui Brewing in Kihei, Bubba Gumps, Cheeseburger in Paradise, Paia Fish Market, Down the Hatch, we hit them all....and all mostly in front street and great atmosphere and food. The Royal Lahaina staff is and was always willing to assist and help us out. So friendly and accomadating. I would suggest hitting the Royal Lahaina's Luau, we had a blast...Great show and great food...then just saunter back to your room, or grab a walk on the beach at night and enjoy the weather. All in all a great time.. And remember...they are not Flip Flops there...they are "Slippers!" Alhoa

"Lahaina Luau - Homophobic"

My husband and I are in Maui for our honeymoon. We got married in October before our families, friends, our daughter in a loving and life affirming celebration of matrimony and life. One of the activities we eagerly wanted to book here in Hawaii was authentic luau, and researching online we found the Royal Lahaina to be the luau with the most good feedback. The skinny on the luau.. The show is fantastic, the wait staff hands on, the bar amply stocked including a good choice of tropical drinks, the buffet worse than gas station dreck. So mostly good, some bad. But on to the meat of this review... Prior to the finale of the show, the emcee, whose name was "Kawee" (sp?), asked any and all honeymooners to stand up and be recognized. We jumped up and as it turned out, were the only ones there celebrating a honeymoon. She then asked any couples celebrating 50years or more of marriage to stand. Three couples did so. We were all then invited to a side stage and dance floor to be acknowledged and receive a special gift. When we got up there, Kawee looked at us, two men, and we could see she was clearly rattled. She went on with her spiel, then inviting any other couples with a special occasion to join us on the dance floor. The dance music cues up, the couples take to the floor, Kawee comes to us and says "you know you don't have to do this." We were floored. But we quickly rebounded and both immediately decided.. Heck yeah we were going to dance! So we didn't just do the two-step. We did our choreographed wedding dance from October, complete with twirls, dips, peek a boos. I was watching audience reaction out of the corner of my eye and people were loving it. Time to take our seats and those promised gifts were floral leis. Each of the three golden couples got their leis and one more round of applause. The two pesky homos who invaded their space?... Nada. Perhaps we're a bit too picky. Are we? It's 2020. Marriage Equality is the law of the land. Hawai'i is a progressive blue state and until this moment, everyone we've encountered on this trip through Oahu and Maui have been so kind and supportive. Kawee's comment to us was demeaning and humiliating. We chocked up this whole experience as just a blip in life, although at that very moment it was awful. Following the luau, more than a few patrons came up to us to offer congratulations and kind words. Memo to the LGBTQ community.. Stay away from Kawee, the Lahaina Luau and the Royal Lahaina Resort. Spend your money with those who support us, love us, and affirm our existence.

"Maui Dream"

Loved every minute of our trip staying at the Royal Lahaina Resort. The lovely cottage we had was next to the pool and convenient to the Tiki Bar. We enjoyed Happy Hour while waiting for our room to be ready. Michael made amazing cocktails. The grounds were immaculate and spectacular with gorgeous tropical landscaping. The food in the restaurant was delicious, but we especially enjoyed our morning buffet breakfast. The fresh fruit and eggs Benedict were delicious! The beach was so close out front that we were even lucky enough to see a whale or two. The entire staff was super friendly and helpful (especially Ford, Rosalyn, bell hops, front desk, waiters, ground keepers, housekeepers, etc...wish I had all the names to give them all a big Mahalo). The Myths of Maui Luau was amazing and well worth attending. Finally, I discovered my favorite drink on the last night there, the Maui Dream. It was a tasty tropical drink similar to a mojito with a splash of pineapple. So ono!!! Hope to go back again one day soon.
