Frequently Asked Questions about River Dogz Kayak Tours

What should I bring?

Sunscreen, sunglasses, and a large hat that shades your whole head and neck are recommended, as well as a small dry bag for personal items. A waterproof case for your phone or camera is a must. Ziplock bags work well for this. Also, please bring any medication and let your guide know about allergies or conditions that affect your health.

What should I wear?

Dress in light, quick-drying warm layers during winter. Water shoes, Teva-style sandals or sneakers are best. NO FLIP-FLOPS, please. Long sleeve shirts are helpful. Long-board shorts or a bathing suit underneath clothing is also a good idea.

Where is it located?

You will meet up with your River Dogz guide at Willow Beach. The address is 25804 Willow Beach Road Willow Beach, Arizona 86445. Willow Beach is located 15 miles south of the Hoover Dam in Arizona off of U.S. Highway 93.

Is the tour appropriate for children?

Kids must be 6 yrs old & accompanied by adults in a tandem kayak, or 14 yrs old & 100 lbs to paddle alone.

Is transportation included? If so, where is the pick-up spot, or how do I arrange it?

Shuttle Service is available on request for your tour date if you have booked the Hotel Pick-up option. Be sure to fill out guest and hotel information for the tours that include hotel pick-up. Alternate meeting locations are Hoover Dam Lodge 18000 US-93 Boulder City NV 89005 and Willow Beach Marina, Willow Beach Arizona.

How long is the tour?

River Dogz offers a half day option that is approximately 4 miles and a full day tour that is 12 miles of slow-flowing, clear river with no rapids. You will need to paddle the entire time from start to finish in order to maintain proper course. Occasional heavy winds can turn the calm river into a choppy paddle with 3-foot swells from time to time. There also can be head winds from the south that can slow you down and make paddling more difficult.

Are food/beverages provided?

Yes, fruit, snacks and plenty of bottled water are provided.
