Description

from Ripley's Aquarium
Ripley's ® Aquarium in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, is located in Broadway at the Beach, an entertainment and dining complex that features restaurants, rides, shops, and the 85,000 square-foot Ripley's Aquarium.

Ripley's Aquarium Myrtle Beach is literally teeming with life - our 10,000 exotic sea creatures comprise more than 350 individual species. Come Face to Face with the largest collection of sharks in South Carolina, touch stingrays, bamboo sharks, horseshoe crabs, and touch jellyfish.

Ripley’s Penguin Playhouse opens in early 2020
African Penguins Coming as Part of the Largest Expansion in Ripley’s Aquarium of Myrtle Beach’s History!
The 5,500-square-foot expansion is the largest in Ripley’s Aquarium of Myrtle Beach’s 20-year history. The African penguin habitat will have floor-to-ceiling viewing glass and a 360-degree crawl tunnel for guests to waddle through. This addition also includes a brand-new Oceans of the World gallery with eight tanks, housing fascinating species of fish from all over the world.

Sporting their black-and-white plumage, the African penguin is the only species of penguin found on the African continent, preferring warmer water temperatures unlike their Antarctic counterparts. Their unique black stripes and spots serve as their identification, similar to a human fingerprint. Don’t miss this exciting new exhibit!

Exhibits at Ripley's Aquarium Include:
  • Rio Amazon

  • Dangerous Reef

  • Living Gallery

  • Rainbow Rock

  • Systems Control

  • Discovery Center

  • Ray Bay

  • Friendship Flats

  • Planet Jellies

  • Glass Bottom Boats (Additional Cost)

Get in the shark tank and experience the indoor Glass Bottom Boat, the first of its kind in North America. Only 3 inches of glass in a specially designed boat will separate you from the sharp-toothed predators that call Dangerous Reef home. The Glass Bottom Boat holds approximately 10 people per tour and launches about every 20 minutes. This exhibit requires a separate ticket available for purchase at Ripley's Aquarium.

"Amazing experience!"
January 2020
I purchased 2 tickets online for Christmas week & received $10 off each ticket. The purchase was very easy & quick.
When we arrived we went right inside & showed the scanbar from my phone & immediately got our tickets-no problem at all.
The aquarium was festively decorated with lights & music playing. There were so many strange & wonderful aquatic animals to see. We got up close & very personal with the rays & "cleaning shrimp". Sharks & exotic life swimming all around in the huge tank. Each exhibit had interesting information & facts of the inhabitants. The whole experience was exciting, fun & very interesting. Staff were knowledgeable & helpful and everything was clean & inviting. Loved our trip!

"Great day at the aquarium. It's not just for kids!!"
December 2019
My husband and I had not been the Ripley's Aquarium in Myrtle Beach for many years. The last time we went, our children were very young. We decided to go on our anniversary trip this year. We had a blast, just the two of us. The exhibits were great, and the huge aquarium filled with sharks that swim overhead was AMAZING! We also enjoyed looking at each of the Christmas trees. It was a great morning!!!

"Great savings!!!"
December 2019
Going to Ripley's Aquarium has been a family tradition for nearly 18 years with my kids!!! Even as teenagers, they still beg to go. My daughter's favorite is petting the sting rays and my son's thrill is looking at the sharks! Using tripster was an added treat this year because of how much money it saved us for tickets!! Strongly recommend visiting this aquarium!

"A couple hours of fun for the whole family!"

Kid and adult friendly. Snacks if you want them. Super fun attractions! Get to touch three different kinds of sea creatures! Also, I really appreciate the Pearl Harbor exhibit. The significance of that history cannot be overstated.

"Intéressant même pour des adultes"

Visite intéressante et enrichissante. Petits spectacles envoûtants meme pour un adulte. L’exposition sur Pearl Harbor nous informe bien sur cet événement de l’histoire. Il faut compter entre 1.5 et 2 heures pour faire le tour de tout l’Aquarium.

We’ve been to the Gatlinburg location also. And when comparing the two. The Gatlinburg location was bigger and had more exhibits. Still a good aquarium to go to. Just not a big as we were expecting.

We enjoy sea life and aquariums. We tried this for the tunnel of water exhibit which was amazing. The view is something that you don’t get at other places. We took out time and enjoyed the sharks. The groups with kids, moved through quickly which might have been a loss for the adults to really take in the views. They did have a few exhibits closed which was disappointing but understandable due to COVID. The only catch was that they up charged to add another attraction which we found out was not on the premises. We probably would not have bought the package if we knew we had to go to another location, such as the Ripley’s Believe It or Not. It did end up good as we did enjoy Ripley’s Believe It or Not.
