It’s nothing but a souvenir tour. They ramble on about all the exciting things you will see. But you actually don’t. You spend 8 hours on a bus with 5-10 minute free lookouts and then 1 hour at north shore Haleiwa bay. If you blink. You miss all the other surge beaches in north shore. Ridiculous. Don’t waste your money This is the first time in Hawaii for both of us and one of the main reasons we came was to experience the North Shore that we had heard and read so much about. We approached a number of tour operators prior to seeing go Hawaii tours.   We decided against all the others because they only visited each location for 10-15 minutes. This is not long enough and not what we wanted.   We wanted an in-depth tour of North Shore with lots of time to explore and see the main parts, including Diamond Head & Turtle Beach. When we discussed all of the above with the man behind the stand, He promised us that this tour was not rushed like the others and that there would be plenty of time to explore and view each stop.   He promised us that we would see all the main attractions and guaranteed an intense tour. Based upon the promises made, we agreed to pay for this tour.$340 aud for two people The tour ended up being a complete and utter waste of time & money and nothing like the tour promised. We did not visit Diamond Head or Turtle Bay as promised, but instead went to a number of gift (souvenir) shops.  These shops might be great for the company if you are being paid to bring tourists there, but they are a complete waste of time for us. We were told we would be snorkelling with turtles for 90 minutes.    We were not taken to the promised places and the beach where we were taken to for snorkelling was horrible with murky waters which made viewing sea life nearly impossible.    There were no turtles or fish to see there. I could go on and on about the issues regarding this tour, including unhygienic snorkels, no sunscreen (as promised), no water supplied etc but I can discuss these further with you in person if you are interested. I am a single Mum with one income and paid $337 Australian Dollars for this tour  for me and my daughter.   This is nearly a weeks wages.   I was totally disappointed with the whole tour and did not get what I was promised or paid for. I am never one to complain but this was sold to us as something completely different to what we ended up getting.

Makani was very good, gave us some good discounts and made booking the trip easy. Jay, our guide was fantastic! He made the trip very fun and entertaining. He is very knowledgeable, had great stories to tell, taught us many local words along the way. We stopped at several view spots for pictures. We also stopped at the macadamia nut farm and dole plantation. We did go for snorkeling, but couldn't find any turtles :( Lunch stop at Fumis was one of the highlights of the trip. The Garlic Shrimps are so tasty! Overall a nice relaxing day! Would definitely recommend this tour to all first-time visitors.

Keith(aka uncle keith) was our tour guide today and let me tell you I had a blast!! Not only was he so very knowledgeable but he knew how to make us laugh so much! This was mine and my boyfriends first time in Hawaii and we didn’t really know much of the island when we got here so we thought you know what let’s go try this tour. What sold us was the scuba diving with the turtles.. that was super fun! Not only did we see some turtles but we saw monk seal laying out in the sand on the way. Keith made it such a memorable trip around the island telling us stories from his childhood and made a real connection with us as well. He taught us so many phrases and made us want to move to Hawaii one day. Thanks uncle Keith for the adventure, your the best!!
