Join our enthusiastic guide on this private guided museum tour that will explore history, art, and nature’s marvels at the Metropolitan Museum of Art and the American Museum of Natural History.

With no less than 2 million works of art and artifacts on hand, the Met showcases objects from Ancient Greece and Egypt as well as modern art from Europe and beyond. During this tour, you’ll start at the sumptuous Great Hall before moving to the museum’s most important galleries. In the Medieval Europe Gallery, you’ll learn about the Studiolo from the Ducal Palace as well as armory worn by Henry VIII. The American wing hosts the staircase from the Chicago Stock Exchange as well as the iconic portrait of Washington crossing the Delaware River. Learn about the turbulent and inspiring lives of several European painters including Vermeer, Seurat, and Van Gogh in the European wings.

After a break for lunch, move to the American Museum of Natural History where you’ll take a trip through time and space. The museum’s 33 million objects are spread through 28 different buildings. You’ll start by learning the museum’s history in the majestic Roosevelt Rotunda before moving onto hear how the dioramas are created as you explore the giant African mammals of the Akeley Hall.

The creatures get even bigger as you move towards the dinosaur exhibits featuring some of the most complete collections of dinosaur skeletons anywhere in the world. From the gargantuan Titanosaur to the crowd-favorite T-Rex, even the most serious adult feels like a kid staring up at these beasts. You’ll then move on to hear about the North American Forests, featuring the giant Sequoia, before gaping up at the Blue Whale hanging overhead in the Hall of Ocean Life. Visit some American mammals as you learn about the National Parks of the United States. End your visit with a trip to space, exploring the Cosmic Pathway that details the no fewer than 13 billion years of our universe’s existence. Talk about perspective, right?

Robin Garr took us on a fabulous tour of the American Museum of Natural History in NYC. About 100 minutes hitting “the bigs” in the museum. Robin shared so much interesting information and we never could have seen so much in so little time without her. Outstanding!!

"Great visit to Statue of Liberty and Ellis island"

We had been to New York a number of times but had never been to the Statue of Liberty. We had done tours with Babylon in other cities and figured we would give it a try. It was a great experience. A small group (5 people) and a very knowledgeable leader Katherine. We learned a lot of things we had not known before and had a very enjoyable time. This is a tour that is very much worth the time.

Mark was amazing—a brilliant ray of sunshine on a rain-soaked day. He’s incredibly knowledgeable and personable and made countless connections between what we were seeing and places in the city for us to look out for afterwards. His love the city is so obvious. Would love to go on more tours with him!

"Great private tour of the MET"
TripAdvisor user rating 5 out of 5

We called Robin in the morning for our pre arranged private tour. We met in the lobby of the MET and Robin was a wonderful guide who was very knowledgable of art history. She was able to squeeze in as much as possible in the time we had together and we were grateful her ability to keep us on the move. There were three of us on this private tour and I would definitely recommend a private tour if you only have a half day.
