In this highly sought-after tour, guests explore nearly 8,000 acres of historic Mount Vernon grounds - from the Mansion's interior, where President Washington resided, to his beloved Gardens, final resting place, and much more. The Mount Vernon estate is one of the Washington, DC, area's premier sightseeing attractions.

Following Mount Vernon, guests will explore and experience George Washington's hometown (Old Town, Alexandria). En route, your coach will wind through Old Town's narrow streets, past Robert E. Lee's boyhood home, The George Washington Masonic Temple, and the Historic Christ Church. There will be an opportunity to stop and have lunch in this colonial-themed hot spot with more than 200 restaurants and boutiques along its cobblestone streets.

Tour departs from the U.S. Navy Memorial at 701 Pennsylvania Avenue, Northwest. The nearest Metro station is within one block; the Archives-Navy Mem’l - Penn Quarter on the Green/Yellow Line.

What if I'm late?

You must arrive at least 20 minutes before your scheduled departure time to ensure your reservation is honored. You have up to ten (10) minutes before the scheduled departure time to ensure your seat on tour. Ten (10) minutes before the departure time, they note outstanding reservations as "no-shows." If they have walk-up passengers, they will be given a ticket and will be boarded at this time.

What type of bus will we use?

The Mount Vernon and Old Town Alexandria Tour use 35-passenger luxury tour buses for their daily mixed tour group. The tour does its best to keep large, same-party groups together on the same bus. The tour reserve the right to substitute their small-capacity tour buses with larger 55-passenger buses, depending upon demand and their tour schedule. The 55-passenger buses have bathrooms on board for your convenience.

What should I bring?

The shuttle buses and vans do not have storage for accommodating carry-on bags. They ask that you only bring purses, briefcases, or backpacks for your tour; Please note that USA Guided Tours reserves the right to inspect any bags, book bags, briefcases, or backpacks you carry.

What should I wear?

There is light walking involved during stops at the landmarks. Make sure to wear comfortable clothes and shoes during this trip.

Is the tour/attraction/activity appropriate for children?

Yes, this tour is appropriate for all ages. Kids under 12 receive USA Guided Tour's discounted children's price (varies with tours). Children under 3 years old ride for free if they can be held in their parent's lap during the tour. You may purchase a child's discounted ticket if you would rather have a separate seat for your infant.

Is the attraction/tour/activity wheelchair accessible?

Unfortunately, their shuttles are not wheelchair accessible, nor is there storage for baby strollers. If you have a wheelchair, please call us to make special vehicle arrangements for your tour. Some of their tours involve longer walks, so if you like, you may stay on board the shuttle, near the landmark, without exiting the shuttle bus every time.

Can I bring my camera?

Yes, you definitely can bring your camera.
