Description

from Medieval Torture Museum
The emotions inspired by the “Medieval Torture Collection” will transport you back in time hundreds of years to some of the most miserable moments in human history.

Our exhibit is a unique presentation that combines academic research with the contradictive, emotionally repulsive draw of a time in history when torture and torment were commonplace.

The “Medieval Torture Collection” reminds us just how much suffering humanity can inflict in the name of cause and justice when the right tools are placed in the hands of fanatics, madmen, and tyrants.

Based on historical documents and engravings, we have amassed an unprecedented collection of cruelty, re-creating the atmosphere that prevailed throughout most of the Middle Ages. For several years, a team of scientists, historians, decorators, and sculptors have worked on creating a unique collection consisting of several hundred pieces filling more than 4000 sq. ft.

Spend an hour here and you will better know the nature of fear.

Are you brave enough?

A great (albeit gruesome) new addition to historic St. George Street. Amazing collection of practically every piece of torture equipment known to man and mock ups of nasty torture. Some of it skived me out, but its worth the price of admission. Who collected all this stuff?

It says it in the name! Several rooms of devices used for various torture in medieval period with several examples. We loved the ambiance definitely not for the squeamish. Although there is some gore and gross with the examples of torture there is history and explanations to go along with them. Must see!

Very creepy displays and devices in an even creepier (supposedly haunted) location. Just being in the building will give you an eerie feeling, and it constantly felt like we were being watched as we moved from room to room. Some of the items are not for little eyes, and there is an age restriction on entry. If you're really into the sick and twisted, this is the place for you.

The museum was definitely interesting even if the torture techniques were barbaric. The audio adds to it since it tells you in depth exactly what each device was used for and why.

My family and I had a blast at this exhibit. Even though it was all about suffering, the museum was set up nicely. The hands on exhibit were interesting. It also was self paced so there was no hurry.
