"Business Hotel"

It is a business hotel. I was there for a conference and I liked the convenience. It is clean, comfortable and good location. I was able to walk to different attractions easily. Good proximity to the airport. I have not interacted much with staff except the staff at the restaurants. Breakfast is rather pricey and there are more reasonable areas nearby. $30 plus for buffet was a little high for me. It was standard buffet for marriott quality. Staff could be a little bit more helpful but overall, good selection. For the other restaurant, enjoyed the service and the quality of food. Price was reasonable.

"A very pleasant stay"

The hotel is the most convenient to the Convention Center, connecting via an underground carpeted passageway. Upon check-in, we did not obtain the requested room type. However, the front desk clerk, Sinead, was extremely gracious. Therefore, we will continue to stay at this property during future visits. The hotel was clean and staff pleasant. Our only complaint was that the hotel room could not get cold enough and they have no portable fans to alleviate the situation. There should be a way to override the A/C unit and/or fans should be available.

Stayed here for a conference and had an extraordinary experience. Staff and service are impeccable, with many charming amenities: cucumber water and a free phone charging station in the lobby; a delicious and varied room service menu, ample breakfast buffet (not included), dual level fitness center. The lobby is a marvel of design and architecture, a soaring atrium setting off Rodney Carroll's powerful "Threads That Bind" metal sculpture. (see photos). The multi level lobby has a variety of cozy, semi private nooks and sofas, including a corner fireplace, that are perfect for sharing a drink and a chat with co-workers. My 5th floor room was lovely and spacious, with plenty of lighting options (one of my peeves with many hotel rooms), comfy bedding, excellent shower. Location was perfect; near the conference center and a short walk from many classic DC attractions. Would definitely stay here again1

"Monumental Artworks and Upscale Elegance Next Door to the Convention Center"

We recently spent six nights at the Marriott Marquis in downtown Washington, D.C. so that I could attend a conference at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center. We chose the hotel specifically due to its proximity to the Convention Center. I was often scheduled from very early in the morning until late at night, and being close to the conference facility was a real time saver. If you have a lot of work ahead of you and need access, you can't beat the location. I was too busy to enjoy any of the hotel's amenities except for the artwork and decor in the lobby and atrium. The sculptures are monumental in size and are symbolic of the U.S.'s land, flag, and patriotic celebrations. Take a moment to read the informational plaques so that you can fully appreciate them. Fresh orchids are a lovely touch! The staff is professionally dressed and extremely courteous. Signage helps, but the facility is so big that it is still easy to feel lost. The hotel was quite full when we stayed, but housekeeping was on top of everything! Our room on the eighth floor was kept perfectly tidy despite a full house. There is a lot of staff and security in the lobby/atrium area, so there is always someone to help you find your way. This hotel does not have a pool, but they do have fitness facilities. I love to swim and missed having a pool as a way to relieve stress. Other than that, though, I can't think of anything the hotel is missing. Our room had a mini fridge, a coffee/tea machine with supplies, and bottled water. We also had an iron and ironing board which I both needed and used. We had a desk with desk chair, lounge chair and side table, and wonderfully soft bedding. Our view was to the street which, from the eighth floor, was quite lovely. The Marriott Marquis is elegant, upscale, and equipped to meet every traveler's need. I would definitely recommend it and would certainly stay there again.
