"Rundown Hotel"
TripAdvisor user rating 3 out of 5

The hotel is pretty well located in the financial area. However, it clearly needs renovation, which will be solved since it is currently starting construction. However, in the meantime, the lobby and common areas are quite rundown and even dirty (the floor was constantly dirty during our 4 night stay). However, rooms are comfortable. In general, it is simply too expensive (+$250 per night) for the quality of the facilities.

"Under construction!"
TripAdvisor user rating 3 out of 5

The hotel location was very good, staff were friendly and accommodating. Unfortunately the hotel was under construction and they did not notify me at the time of the booking which was frustrating - it meant that the restaurant was re-located to the lobby area and made for a congested feel when you walked in the front door.

"Top-notch teamwork wins the day in middle of ongoing construction"
TripAdvisor user rating 4 out of 5

Kudos to this Courtyard's team for top-notch customer service in the midst of ongoing construction that limits visitor access to amenities (like a fully functional restaurant). My family and I were very impressed by the cheerful approach displayed by everyone we encountered. Specific shoutouts to bellman Ernesto, front desk staffer Robert, and the team at Whispers on the weekend of June 29-30. If you're staying here - a few tips: - The Soma Wines grocery is open extended hours and has a wide range of items. - Uber pickups are tricky - traffic is intense in this area. Keep that in mind. - Not a lot of nearby breakfast options. - Turn right out of the hotel onto 2nd Street. On the right, just past intersection at Howard...best pizza around can be found at Jersey. Don't miss it. - Hit the Ferry Building on the Embarcadero for a great lunch (try Gott's Roadside for amazing burgers) and then take a cheap roundtrip ferry ride around the Bay. - Looking for Italian? Ristorante Franchino on Columbus Avenue is the real deal. I researched it on TripAdvisor and was glad I did. Talk to Mama Franchino while you're there! Final thoughts: SOMA (South of Market) is an area that will only continue to grow. However, right now, walkable activities in the area are limited. Consider the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art (walkable) for an amazing artistic experience. Enjoy your trip to the City.

I am usually a hilton customer, but this hotel is close to my work here in town. 1st time here, and recommended by a coworker. The staff was very friendly checking me in, the room is really nice , floor is quiet. Walked by a lady cleaning one of the rooms, she was very friendly also as i was walking down the hall way. Really nice place to stay..the only knock i have on it, is that there is no vending or ice on the floor i am on ..

"Nice Hotel quiet and comfortable Room 814"

We stayed at The Courtyard by Marriott Downtown for 3 nights and we found it to be very pleasant. Staff at the reception desk were very nice and and the room we had was large and comfortable. Bed was great to sleep in firm but not hard which I find really good. The pillows were also good. We had a King room that had a large corner shaped sofa and there was plenty of room for two people even three if needed. The view was of the city and being downtown we didnt expect anything more than that. The price was a little high due to the AUD$ exchange rate but that's just the way the cookie crumbles sometimes, $860 AUD for 3 nights. The hotel was clean and centrally located in the downtown area and there is a convenience store opposite. There was roadworks occurring outside the hotel when we stayed that caused a bit of confusion ordering UBER rides but it all worked out ok. Not much around the immediate area of the Hotel but use UBER as there the cheapest and quickest to get to where you want to go. The only down side no bottled water in room. Overall a good Hotel and would definitely recommend
