"Just another Madame Tussauds"
TripAdvisor user rating 3 out of 5
Reviewed July 23, 2019 NEW
We visited Madame Tussauds while in San Francisco but it wasn’t something different to the ones we visited in Europe. We kind of knew that beforehand, although we had some spare time and that’s why we decided to visit it again. We wouldn’t recommend to make it a priority if you have been to another Madame Tussauds before.

"Worth seeing"

It was a rainy day so we opted to visit the waxworks. Ordinarily this wouldn’t be on my list, as I’m not a fan. But I admit I was surprised how good it was, especially if you interact with the exhibits for fun photos. Liked Charlie Chan, Bruce Lee, Muhammed Ali, Johnny Depp, Adele, and all of the rest. We had a good laugh and enjoyed our time there.

Stopped in late one evening. They were very nice to let us in just before closing. Had the place to ourselves.

"Kids (ages 9,11) loved it; waited in line anyway after getting online tickets"
TripAdvisor user rating 4 out of 5

I bought my tickets about 20 mins in advance so as not to wait in line because we only had 45 mins before we had to leave for dinner reservation. But when we got there, they made us wait in line anyway. I think I got $5 off by buying tickets online, so was still worth it, but I don't understand why, if you have a bar code on your phone you still have to wait in line. Then you wait in another line to get in so they can take one group at a time to take a photo (I believe for purchase) and to wait for the elevator. So we probably spent 20 mins trying to get in and had 25 mins to go through the activity, which was ok, but a little rushed. They told us most people take 30-45 mins to go through it. Some people had a pass for 17 activities that I would look into next time we go. Also, it was way less busy when we walked by another day around 1:30 PM. No lines, compared to 4:30 pm when we went the previous day. The next day my daughter loved the laser thing too (my online tickets for wax museum didn't appear to be good for the next day, although I called and tried to chat with Madame Tussauds and couldn't reach anyone to ask so we went for the 45 mins just in case my tickets were invalid the next day). You have to pay a little extra for the laser game, where you avoid lasers to hit buttons across the room, but it was worth it for my 11-year-old daughter. She had a great time beating her best time while increasing the level of difficulty.

We've always wanted to try popping into one of these places... We finally did do to you getting a package deal with the San Francisco dungeon. It was a good experience. Not the most cost-effective way to spend an hour but still definitely something to do on a slow day.
